Hi everyone,
It's been a little while since we had a completely new-to-us, yet world-renowned,
maestro in residence at the school. We are super-over-the-moon-thrilled to have
Matias Facio here to teach from TONIGHT through October 31. Come study with him soon so you can experience as much of this residency as you can. You are going to love him!
This weekend (October 6-7), we are going to be part of something special, the launch of a new tango organization. Our student, Eric Sparre, is the founder of
Bucks County Tango, which hopes to build opportunities to learn and dance tango in the New Hope (PA) and Lambertville (NJ) area. The weekend consists of our Two-Day Beginner Tango Intensive, co-taught by Matias & myself, and a Saturday night milonga with DJ Matias and a demo by Matias & myself. Please help Bucks County Tango start STRONG by attending the milonga, and spreading the word about the beginner intensive to anyone you know who may be tango-curious. Thanks! (We may also be needing volunteer leaders in the intensive, so
reach out, if interested.)
Read on below for more details about Matias' residency, and the launch of something very dear to my heart: the
Fishtown Salon Concert Series, which will present four concerts during our inaugural 2018-19 season. The series starts with a BANG! on Saturday, October 27 with a "Dueling Tango Pianists Concert", featuring two of the very best: Pablo Estigarribia & Emiliano Messiez.
Thanks to you all for trying to keep up with all of our experiments and offerings. Really appreciate your open-mindedness to try new things and all of your support!
Thanks especially to Amy Yang, who has taken over getting most of the weekly newsletters out! Speaking of volunteers, I am looking for a new work exchange volunteer who can help prepare the kitchen/food spread on Wednesday nights for Milonga El Puntazo. Please
email me if interested. Thanks!
Big hugs!
Meredith
PS You'll also find info about two more new things starting this week:
Sips in Spanish, a wine & conversation workshop, taught by Cassidy Colgan; and a new
All-levels Classical Ballet series, taught by Alexei Borovik.

Matias Facio in Philadelphia:
October 1-31
|
|
Matias Facio started dancing tango in Patagonia, Argentina in 1995 and since then, has dedicated himself completely to it.
His passion for dancing and studying tango took him to Buenos Aires where he fully developed his own unique style. His mind and body awareness have been enriched through styles such as Graham, Limon, Cunningham, Flying Low and Feldenkrais. Matias has been teaching tango for more than 15 years, and traveling around the globe teaching and performing has given him a wealth of tango experiences.
In 2008 he moved to Berlin where he now lives. He teaches regularly with Claudia Rogowski, and travels teaching Tango around the world. Matias also collaborates with other dancers like Cynthia Fattori and Mariana Dragone. Check out his
website
for more information about Matias.

DJing: Matias is also a renowned DJ. We'll get to hear his work this Wednesday at Milonga El Puntazo, this Saturday at Bucks Tango, and on Friday, October 26 during an amazing event at the Free Library of Philadelphia.
Private Lessons: The best way to maximize your learning during Matias's residency is to study with him privately. He is offering a variety of great private lesson packages.
