In order to allow enough time for LCMS Disaster Response in St. Louis to gather and ship class materials, 8/15 (today) is the deadline for event registration on lcms-lert.org. If you are reading this too late to accomplish the registration, please call/text me at 530-520-1458. I will see what I can do to include you in the class roster.

Last Week to Help Provide Backpacks and School Supplies

Lutheran Social Services of Northern California serves many families with children, providing housing and support services to help them stabilize their lives after homelessness. These very low income families are constantly struggling to make ends meet, pay their bills and provide the basics for their children. But we know that education is a primary way to guide individuals out of homelessness and poverty into stability.

Lutheran Social Services requests your assistance to give the children we serve opportunity to make powerful lives for themselves and start off their school year with backpacks and necessary school supplies. They need 100 backpacks for students in all grades! To view their Target wish list, click here. Items may be shipped directly to LSS of Northern California, 1465 Civic Ct Ste 810, Concord, CA 94521, or collect them at your parish, and they'll arrange a pick-up. The deadline is August 21, 2023. Questions? Click here to contact them. Thank you for making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children in your community.

Installation at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Honolulu, HI

The installation of Rev. Bob Mabry took place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Honolulu, Hawaii on Sunday, August 13th at 4pm. We began with a prayer for our brothers and sisters on Maui who were affected by the wildfires.

Pastor Jeff Mueller (Waikoloa Lutheran Church), former pastor of Good Shepherd preached on God's Wooly Wonders. The Palauan Lutheran church sang and the congregations enjoyed an amazing potluck.

Kingdom Wins - Baptisms at St. Mark in Santa Rosa

From Pastor Gerloff: In May, I found 7 people (members, friends of the church, friends of friends) who had not yet been baptized. As I started making plans for the baptisms, I came across 3 more people who had never been baptized, so I added them to the “list” too. To encourage our congregation, I announced that we were trying to schedule 10 baptisms. The planning for them did not go smoothly, and it became spiritually obvious that Satan was working hard to discourage the baptisms.
