Over the past year, your support has helped Hushabye Nursery continue changing the trajectory for families impacted by the opioid crisis. Through compassionate, evidence-based care, we have now served over 2,000 babies and their parents, helping families heal together and build stronger futures. Our innovative care model reduces the average stay for babies experiencing withdrawal from 22 days in a traditional NICU to just 7.7 days, allowing bonding and recovery to begin sooner. Donating to Hushabye Nursery is so easy when you are filing your taxes. Your donation comes back to you as a dollar-for-dollar credit on your Arizona state taxes. And for our babies, your generous gift becomes safe care, warm holds, recovery support, and hope. If you file as an individual, you may claim up to $495. If you're married filing jointly, you may claim up to $987.

Hushabye Nursery partners with local jails and correctional facilities to support pregnant and parenting moms during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.

Our team leads parenting classes inside facilities, provides education on substance use and recovery, and helps mothers prepare for their baby’s arrival, even while incarcerated.

But we don’t stop there.

We assist in coordinating thoughtful release plans, so moms have:

Connection to outpatient treatment and case management
Safe housing resources
Pediatric follow-up care
Parenting support
Ongoing recovery services

Our goal is simple but powerful: keep families together whenever it is safe and possible.

By meeting mothers where they are - sometimes quite literally behind bars - we help break cycles of shame, isolation, and generational trauma. We replace them with hope, preparation, and a pathway forward.

Because every baby deserves a healthy start - and every mother deserves a chance to become the parent she longs to be.

Carol has been one of the nurse leaders at Hushabye for the last three years. Her hilarious sense of humor is only outmatched by her compassionate heart and incredible kindness towards everyone. Carol is often mentioned on Client Satisfaction Surveys for the excellent care and support she provides. And as any colleague can attest — the shifts are always more fun when Carol is working.

Memory Maker Photo Day was a beautiful success - thanks to our incredible volunteer photographer, Ana Gaxiola. Thirty-two Hushabye families returned to have photos taken, reconnect with staff, and spend time with one another. Moments like these keep families connected during the first year after birth - a time when continued support and community can make a meaningful difference in a mother’s health and well-being.
