We are committed to ensuring everyone in our community has enough to eat and access to the most nutritious food. We are grateful to you and all our generous donors and partners for enabling us to continue providing for everyone who comes to us. A Big THANK YOU to Long Island Cares for passing along an anonymous donation for the pantries on the East End! This donation will allow us to take one step closer to purchasing a much-needed walk-in refrigerator/freezer to store even more fresh food.

FOOD PANTRY

Pictured: Volunteer Anne Ramunno, Christine from LI Cares, and Francisco distributing farm fresh produce

In the month of May, we had 1,630 visits to our food pantry. So far this year, we have distributed a total of 300,000 meals worth of groceries to our neighbors!

We provided 47,914 meals worth of food to our customers this month. Out of those meals, 18,755 were for children in our community. Each summer, we are committed to providing an extra bag containing 5 meals for local children, along with the regular 3 bags of groceries provided to families each week. The food we are able to offer is dependent on community support.

Your gifts allow everyone in our community to put healthy food on the table, week after week.

ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

This month, we hosted a 'Get Ready for Summer' open house. All of our customers were invited to come and shop for free clothing, shoes, personal care products, and household items. Everyone had a chance to win a new bicycle donated to us by a volunteer, received free museum passes thanks to our friends at CMEE and the South Fork Natural History Museum, and was given a book filled with local, fun, free events to enjoy with their families this summer.

Our Assistance Program serves local children, adults, and families with a wide range of support. We are happy to see that many of our customers have begun to receive increased work hours now that summer is almost here, but if they fall on hard times, we remain committed to providing support.

Here are but a few examples of what support our Assistance Program provided in the past month:

  • Paid for tuxedos and dresses for High School students to attend their school prom
  • Paid rent for a senior that lost his job suddenly
  • Set up a medical ride for seniors and a young student with cancer
  • Paid a gas bill for a food pantry client living with no hot water
  • Made PSEG payments for two seniors that fell behind on their bills
  • Purchased medication for a food pantry client who has cancer

We are able to be a crucial safety net thanks to donors like you.

MOONLIT PLUNGE

Take the Plunge to End Hunger!

Join us for our 4th annual Moonlit Plunge on Thursday, July 10th, at the famed Coopers Beach. $60 per person. Sponsorship opportunities available.

Don't miss the best night of the summer! If you have joined us before, you understand the excitement. If not, you will love the fun beach party vibe, burgers from Coopers Beach Shack, taking the plunge (optional) with hundreds of new friends, dancing along with DJ Rah-G-Raj, and sitting around the bonfire at the end of the night.

A big thank you to Southampton Village Mayor and Board of Trustees, Coopers Beach Shack, Shippy's Restaurant, and the Southampton Village Ocean Rescue Squad for their help to make the event possible!

LUNCHBOX KIDS

Pictured: Kids on our parade float in 2023. Send us an email if your child would like to join us this year.

We need your help to ensure no child goes hungry this summer! Your support of our Lunchbox Kids program helps us to feed nearly 1,000 kids every month.

Although parents and caregivers work hard to provide for their children, low wages coupled with the high cost of housing make it difficult to have enough money to buy food. In the Summer months, it only gets harder. More than 50% of students in East End schools depend on free school meals, and so we are committed to providing extra food when school is not in session.

Together, we can ensure all children have a fun, healthy, and enriching summer. Will you join us in giving local kids great nutritious food and a stress-free summer?

Want to get involved? We would love to have student and adult volunteers helping this summer. Fill out a volunteer application here.
