May - Mental Health Awareness Month

We are constantly facing challenges throughout the day, both at work and home. Some of which create tension, which can lead to feelings of stress and anxiety. Although this is the body’s natural response, we can learn ways to help cope with these changes and improve our overall health and well-being.

Examples of Stressors:

The ding of an email alert

Heavy workload

Concerns about weight or appearance

Chronic illness or injury

Finances

Caregiving responsibilities (parents, kids, spouse, etc.)

Grief and loss

We recognize that stress affects everyone differently. Through the month of May, we will promote several different tools focusing on ways to cope and manage stress effectively throughout our day.

Please check your email and Teams notifications for more information on the items below:

  • Beginning May 1st, employees will have the opportunity to participate in a Mental Fitness Challenge using the Wise@Work App through Wisdom Labs.

  • Each week, a new Tool Box Talk will be shared with a focus on mental health and well-being.

  • Financial Wellness Webinar provided by NFP

  • Additional resources provided through United Health Care and Lincoln Financial Group

*** There will be an opportunity for raffle prizes for participants in the Mental Health Fitness Challenge and the Financial Wellness Webinar***

Hello Team!

We are excited to announce that Shapiro & Duncan is taking part in a month-long Mental Fitness Challenge powered by the Wise@Work App!

This May you'll be encouraged to explore the Wise@Work App, which has hundreds of work-focused mindfulness practices designed to build focus, enhance productivity, improve emotional resilience, and deepen connection and teamwork. You will notice that both the content and the format of the app are tailored to meet the needs of people at work. To finish the Challenge successfully, complete at least 20 practices during the month!

Why Mindfulness?

Regular mindfulness practice has proven to lower stress, reduce burnout, increase creativity, and build resilience—in addition to improving your personal health and wellbeing. The Mental Fitness Challenge represents an opportunity to have a bit of fun as a team while becoming stronger and more connected!

  • Complete the onboarding survey to customize your app experience.

  • Opt-in to the challenge when prompted on the app.
