From AD Ray Meadows...
THANK YOU!
|
On behalf of Campolindo High School, I would like to thank the members of the Campolindo Athletics Booster Club for their endless and countless hours of volunteerism and financial support of the Campo Athletic Program. We immensely appreciate all you do year-round to continuously support Campolindo High School athletics.
Your efforts, just this year, have helped to allow updates and installations of our NFHS Broadcasting of sporting events at our various facilities to become a reality.
In addition you have helped upgrade our current equipment with a new scorers table for our gym sports. Sports Boosters has helped to fund future coach training centered on culture building further enhancing the experience of our athletes. You have helped to fund and organize the Campo Softball Field upgrades as well as provided individual financial donations to every athletic team. The purchase of the decorative Inflatable Arch and Flags, amongst many other current and pending projects of the Boosters Club have helped enrich the experiences of our athletes, families and our entire athletic community.
I would like to add a special thank you to the Boosters Club President, Bob Sofman for his leadership and guidance in directing change focused around equity and inclusion.

We want to take a moment to highlight our female football players from this past season that you might have literally run past you: Ali McCauley (Freshman Football), Ava Filer (JV Football) Avery Jules (Freshman Football), Pinkie Schnayer (JV Football). (YES, Campo Football is for EVERYONE!)
We got a chance to catch up to them (no pun intended) to get their thoughts on the past season, motivation and returning to Campo football.
Why Football?
- I started playing football in third grade because of my older brother. When we were little I wanted to be exactly like him and do everything that he did, and sports was no exception. I had seen him play football for years, so as soon as I was old enough I joined MOL flag football and just never stopped playing. When it comes to high school football, I joined mostly because I had so much fun playing flag football for so many years and didn’t want to give up the sport. ~Avery Jules, Defensive End
Thoughts on the 2021-2022 season:
- “One of the things that really stood out to me about the season was the bond that you form with your teammates. Within Campo Football, there is such a strong sense of community between everyone involved in the program. There is a connection that is formed between people when you all spend that much time together working towards the same goal that you don’t find anywhere else.”
- It was way more fun than we expected. Sometimes it was intense, but it was always fun.
- The coaches knew how to work with everyone really well. Coach Macy’s speeches were especially motivating and he made everybody feel like they mattered, as long as they were pushing themselves to do their best.
Thoughts on returning back to Campo Football:
- Over time, you build a commitment to your team. We form a dependency on each other, especially for support.
- The environment was too fun to quit. It was chaotic, but it was great.
- There are a lot of people we get to prove wrong, even in our personal lives.
- I’m doing this largely out of spite. Enough people told me that I couldn’t or I shouldn’t so I did. This is the hill I choose to die on.

CONGRATULATIONS BOYS' GOLF!!
DAL CHAMPIONS!!

Campolindo Boys Golf Seals The Deal: DAL Champions Once Again
In our last missive it was noted that Campolindo's road to the Boys Golf DAL Championship was tenuous at best. The team needed to notch wins against Las Lomas and a very strong Acalanes team to have a chance at the DAL Championships. May we say "Mission Accomplished!"
Campo was still licking its wounds after suffering a bitter defeat to Las Lomas in March at Boundary Oak. The result at the home match contested at Moraga CC was quite different. Campo prevailed 197 to 209. Junior Barrett Dellamar was the medalist for the match as he posted a 2 over par 37. Fellow junior Dylan Breznikar and sophomore Tim Daugherty carded 39's and Justin Rodriguez (40) and James Giordani (42) rounded out the scoring for the Cougars.
In between the Las Lomas and Acalanes matches, the Cougars had a date at the Stanley Dollar Ranch golf course in Rossmoor where the Transbay Tournament took place. The field consisted of 21 teams and our Campo lads were only bested by a very strong Foothill High School team as Campo took second place over all. The Cougars were led by sophomore James Giordani who posted a 4 under par 68 as he took second place in the individual competition. Sophomore Tim Daugherty was nearly as good as he posted an even par 72 which was good for 4th place. Juniors Justin Rodriguez (75), Barrett Dellamar (78), and Dylan Breznikar (81) rounded out the scoring for the Cougars who have delivered solid performances in tournaments throughout the season.

|
The last non league dual match tilt had a very strong Alameda team visiting Moraga CC in the hopes of avenging their one stroke loss to the Cougs on their home golf course. It was not to be. Campolindo 196, Alameda 207. James Giordani, (36) was the medalist of the match. Tim Daugherty, (38), Justin Rodriguez (39), Barrett Dellamar (40) and Dylan Breznikar (43) rounded out the scoring.
The Campolindo Boys Golf team was methodically putting themselves back into contention for the championship. It was critical that they win against Acalanes in order to have a chance. The guys were on point as they laid down one of their best scores of the past five years: Campolindo 187, Acalanes 207. Justin Rodriguez and Tim Daugherty both shot even par 35's to win co-medalist of the match honors. Dylan Breznikar (38), James Giordani (39) and Barrett Dellamar (40), rounded out the scoring . Now it was onto the DAL Tournament.
The DAL Tournament was contested on Monday, May 2, at Lone Tree Golf Club in Antioch. It was a cool and blustery day; not very opportune for shooting low scores. Evidently, the weather conditions did not thwart our Campo golfers. Sophomore Tim Daugherty took second place with a 74, Justin Rodriguez was 4th with a 78, and Barrett Dellamar and James Giordani 79's tied for 5th place. When you add in Dylan Breznikar's 81, Campolindo won the tournament by an 18 stroke margin. Next up for our guys will be the North Coast Section (NCS) Tournament of Champions which will be contested at Lone Tree Golf Course on Monday, May 16.

Campolindo Dominates All League Golf Team Selections
All five of Campolindo's top players received DAL all league honors. James Giordani, Tim Daugherty and Barrett Dellamar earned first team recognition. Dylan Breznikar received second team all league status and Justin Rodriguez attained an honorable mention. Congratulations, gentlemen.
The season is not done, but it definitely was the icing on the cake for the league competition.
We hope everyone has a save, fun and healthy summer vacation!
