Kickoff to Summer

Saturday, May 31

4:30PM

Its time to kick off our 75th season with an old fashioned Southern garden party. Please join us on Saturday May 31st for a Chili Cook Off and Barbecue. This will be a perfect opportunity to meet new friends and get reacquainted with old ones, as well as get some last minute assistance putting that boat in for the season.

In lieu of our usual appetizers, the festivities will begin at 4:30PM with a highly competitive (hopefully) Chili Tasting. So all you talented cooks out there, dust off those chili recipes and get busy. A secret ballot will determine who will take home the coveted “Golden Spoon.”

Dinner of old fashioned barbecue and comfort foods will be served at 6:00PM followed by dancing and merriment on the porch.

Cost: $25 per adult which includes our famous open bar, and $10 per child under 21.

Make checks payable to PCC and send to:

Pat Donnelly

115 Amherst Ave

Pittsburgh PA 15229

Or, drop your payment in the white party box in the drink room. Payment may also be made via PayPal on our website.

Please text (412) 760-0864 by Monday May 26th to RSVP and please let me know if you will compete in the Chili cook off. Helping hands and desserts are welcome. Hope to see you all there! Pam.

Spring Work Party

& Membership Meeting

The 2025 Spring Pymatuning Century Club work party is now in the books and was a fantastic success this year. Despite the cold, damp and dreary weather, the turn-out was very good and all of the usual tasks needed to get the club set up for Spring and Summer were completed. This turned out to be a great opportunity to congregate with many club members who you don’t often spend time with in a fun and constructive environment. In addition to the usual spring setup items, several other items were also completed or started. The Gazebo was assembled, the trees pressing against the garage were cut down, the ice damaged roof over the firewood pile removed, and the huge task of scraping and painting the fence along the road was started.

Following all of the work, was the spring membership meeting and a delicious lunch of sandwiches, sides, soups and desserts. A huge THANK YOU to all who contributed. This club is operated by member participation and you all never disappoint.

If you were not able to make the work party, there are still many items that should be completed around the club, Any of them can be done to meet the volunteer hour goals. Some jobs require a team and others can be completed by one person at any time. A complete list of work items will be posted on the clubhouse board in the next few weeks. Please feel free to tackle any task that you feel confident with. If you see something not on the list that you feel should be done, please do it and write the task and your name on the list.

Thank you to all the wonderful ladies who helped feed our Work Party on Saturday. If you brought soup or another dish to share or helped with the set up and clean up, you helped make the day a success. Nobody ever leaves PCC hungry! Thank you.

Gazebo progress

The Brian Bish Memorial Gazebo has been erected. Big thanks to Paul Southerland and his brother for getting the deck installed ahead of the work part. A crew at the work party started in the morning and stayed after the meeting to complete the job. Big thanks for the hard work with the assembly. The gazebo looks great. There is still some finishing work to do and a plaque is being planned but it's great to see it all finally come together. Thanks to Dave Porter for your leadership in this process.

From your Harbor Master

Just a few quick reminders as we head into the spring... if your boat was stored along the driveway over the winter, please make sure you remove ALL bricks, blocks, planks, chocks or any other materials used to store your boat and trailer are removed after launching your boat. High grass around trailers may hide these things, so double check everything has been removed. Also, when parking your trailer in your summer spot, ensure the trailer is centered and aligned in the spot properly. Thank you!

Get well soon!

Please keep Kathy Doyle in your thoughts and prayers as she battles some health issues and upcoming medical procedures!

Monthly Hors d'Oeuvre Parties!

Our monthly Hors d 'Oeuvre parties are some of our favorite events! No RSVP's required and no cost - just show up and bring a dish to share. BYOB or donate to the club fridge! During the winter months (Nov. - Apr.), parties start at 5pm on the first Saturday of every month. During May - October, plan on eating around 6pm to allow more time on the water! This is a great opportunity to invite friends or family and show them what we are all about, or meet some of our new members. See you all then!

Next event: Saturday, May 3rd, @6PM.

Input to our monthly newsletter is encouraged and greatly appreciated! Please email articles and photos to Lidia at szarak2000@yahoo.com or text photos to 724-967-1910 by the 25th of each month.
