May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Over the past two years, iSOSY has focused on raising awareness among and creating instructional materials for MEP service providers to better support OSY and at-risk secondary youth around issues regarding mental health.

See below some of the great materials available for use.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness month, we highlight iSOSY's researched-based mental health lessons. These bi-lingual lessons allow service providers to not only focus on important mental health topics but also incorporate English-building skills into the lessons. Each lesson includes: a pocket guide, a lesson script, and bilingual audio enhancements.

Do you need to access state-specific mental health resources?

iSOSY’s State Mental Health Resource Sheets were created to offer valid mental health resource options on a local/regional level.

They are available on the Personal Wellness page.

Mother Day’s is celebrated in May in both the US and many Latin American countries. As MEP service providers it is not uncommon to encounter female OSY and secondary youth who are also mothers and whose young child(ren) qualify for MEP services alongside their mother.

How can your MEP help serve the unique needs of our female OSY and at-risk students who are also mothers?

  • Network and build relationships with Migrant Head Start Centers or Early Head Start Center in your area so that young children can receive important preschool services while mothers can takes advantage of educational opportunities such as GED classes. Click here to access the Migrant Head Start Center Locator to identify the closest Head Start Center to your MEP project.
