Welcome to our Online Worship!  The theme of worship today is "Laughter:  Medicine for the Soul."     There is a lot of sadness and hardship and pain and difficulty these days.  This pandemic has sucked the joy out of many people.   In the times we are presently living, humor is needed now more than ever.

The writer of Proverbs says that "a cheerful heart is good medicine for the soul."  Even in the midst of trials and tribulations and suffering it is possible to experience joy.  We need to laugh.  Laughter can be a healing balm.  We benefit physically, emotionally, and spiritually from laughter.  I pray that as you worship today that you will experience the joy the Lord wants all us to have, even in the midst of difficult times.

Today is also Mothers' Day.  We want to honor our mothers, those who are still with us and those who have gone on before us.   May they be blessed on this special day.

Opening Prayer

Almighty God, I do love you and it is my desire in these next few moments, as I worship, to express my love and adoration for you.  Help me to give all of who I am, to love you with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind and all my strength.  In the name of Jesus, I pray.  Amen.

Mysteries, Yes

Truly we live with mysteries to marvelous
to be understood.

How grass can be nourishing in the
mouths of lambs.
How rivers and stones are forever in
allegiance with gravity
while we ourselves dream of rising.
How two hands touch and the
bonds will never be broken.
How people come, from delight  or the
scars of damage
to the comfort of a poem.

Let me keep my distance, always, from  those
who think they have the answers.

Let me keep company always with those who say,
"Look!" and laugh in astonishment
and bow their heads.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.  Amen.

Our Core Practices

Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours.  Yours are the eyes through which Christ's compassion for the world is to look out; yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good; and yours are the hands with which He is to bless us now.
