Dear SRS Parents and Guardians,
Please keep the family of one of our first grade students, Jordan Beaulieu, in your prayers. The family home was destroyed by fire this past weekend. Their home is a complete loss. I have reached out to the family and asked of how the St. Rita Community can be of assistance and mom, Yollanda, shared the following link https://gofund.me/4bd8bd2e. Once the family gets situated in a new home I will share any needs for household necessities and furnishings they may need. Thank you for your generosity and support.
All I can say is WOW and THANK YOU for everything you did to make our school play, Beauty and the Beast Jr., so successful. I continue to be awed by the level of commitment and talent from our thespians and the never ending energy and enthusiasm from our director, Mary Lee Delaney. The level of commitment from a school community that we experience every play weekend is just one of the many things that makes St. Rita School such a special place to be and is a living testimony to the vitality and vibrancy of our school. I am so fortunate that God has chosen this path for me.
Teachers in Catholic schools model the Gospel in all that they do. The relationships they build with students affect both students and teachers throughout their lives. St. Rita School appreciates the commitment and service to Catholic education from all our teachers. This week we are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week and Nurse’s Appreciation Day. Every day this week we are celebrating our faculty with small treats. A huge thank you to the Evanich family for providing Dunkin Donuts coffee and donuts. Please take some time out of your busy schedule to send a quick thank you e-mail or note to your child’s teacher and if your child is a frequent visitor to our school nurse, please acknowledge Mrs. Palma also. Without our dedicated faculty and staff, your children would not receive the quality education they do here at St. Rita.
Our second grade students are looking forward to seeing the church filled again this coming Saturday at 10:00 to celebrate their 1st Communion. A very special thank you goes out to Mrs. Gertz and Mrs. Bonini , and Mrs. Halloran for preparing our students to receive Jesus for the first time. Please keep these students and their parents in your daily prayers.
On Thursday, June 8, students in kindergarten through grade 7 will be going to Camp Mt. Laurel in Hamden for their annual field day. Further information will be sent home next week with your child.
Our annual Spring Concert is scheduled for next Tuesday, May 16 at 1:45 in the gym. Our band and chorus will perform. Everyone is invited to attend. Also on Thursday, May 18, students in Kindegarten through grade 8 will be attending the 12 (noon) Ascension Thursday Mass at St. Rita Church and on Friday, May 19 we will have the May Crowning at 1:30 at the Mary garden on the side of the school. Please join us for both these events.
As you enjoy the sunshine and warm weather, have a splendiferous week. Happy Mother’s Day to all! Thank you for entrusting your child to our care.
God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi
