Been feeling a little moody and run down recently so I googled my symptoms to see what I might have...

Thank you for 20+ Years!

Last week Mayor Hellier, along with other members of City Council and staff and our Ambassadors joined us in celebrating some of our members that hit 20+ years this year. We commemorated it with a certificate and their official 20 year member plaque! We are so grateful for all of you who have supported our mission and our scope of work for so many years.

Legislative Update

The Senate passed its paid leave mandate bill, HF 2, on a party-line 34-33 vote.

The Senate bill requires:

•         Up to 20 weeks of paid leave for all MN employees

•         An annual $1.5 billion tax on employers and employees

Every employer and employee in the state – private sector businesses, local governments, public schools and universities, and nonprofits – will be impacted by this expansive state mandate.

It will be funded by an annual payroll tax of at least $1.5 billion and require employers to find replacement workers to backfill for employees who take leave in one of the tightest labor markets the state has ever experienced.

Businesses, particularly small businesses, already struggle with lost productivity due to workforce shortages. The cost to find temporary workers to back up employees on leave is a double tax on these employers.

The Chamber recommends providing some relief to Minnesota’s smallest businesses by making participation in the state program voluntary while at the same time enabling their employees to participate in the state plan on an individual basis if an employee so chooses – even if their employer does not.

These suggested improvements were rejected by the majorities in the House and Senate.

Yes, that is actually lunch!

I know you do not believe me, but that delicious ice cream- like-dish from Nautical Bowls is filled with nutrients and is actually a meal. The weather is nice (finally) so it is time to get this on your regular lunch routine. It is a meal and a treat all in one! Thank you

Eva even let Katie Anderson with Melaleuca and Olivia Nehring with Keller Williams try out the fun!

Celebrate with the kiddos!

This is a very special ribbon cutting. We will celebrate a Solar System Walk that was designed and created by a class at Kenwood Trail Middle School. This project was made possible in part through a small grant from the Lakeville Chamber Foundation and a large donation of materials, production, and installation by Safety Signs.

We invite you to join the Foundation Board, Safety Signs, and our KTMS students, in learning how this interactive exhibit will work, how it will change each year, and to help celebrate this new area for students and residents!

We will cut the ribbon at 8AM and you can walk around and explore the area after we take the photo!
