COVID-19 Vaccine Information & Resources

All students, faculty and staff on the Ann Arbor campus (including Michigan Medicine) are required to be vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 and to submit their vaccination information. New incoming students: you must have a UMICH ID and email address in order to submit vaccination information. Additional details on requirements and current protocols can be found here.

To learn more about how U-M is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, we encourage you to visit the Campus Maize and Blueprint website. Stay safe and be healthy!
Course Registration Overview
Master's and PhD Course Registration

Course Registration opens June 1, 2022. This process is done via your Student Center in Wolverine Access.

You will be getting more detailed information about course planning and other registration details from your department’s program coordinator, but here are some helpful videos to get you prepared! If you have logistical questions, email [email protected].

Some important information to keep in mind during registration:

  • Class sections ending in 554, 555, 556, 333, or 777 are reserved for students in specific programs and are not open to students outside of those programs.
  • If you get an error message when registering that says you have a time conflict, you are able to override the time conflict by checking the "Time Conflict Okay" checkbox in the Class Enrollment Preferences page. You should speak to the instructors of both courses to be sure that this time conflict will not cause an issue.
  • If a class requires permission, you need to contact the instructor to get approval. Their department then enters an electronic permission into the system that allows you to enroll in the class. Once the permission has been entered an email will be sent to notify you. You will then need to officially register for the class.
  • If you are trying to register for a full or closed course, turn on the "add to waitlist" checkbox on the Enrollment Preferences page when adding it to your Backpack. You will still need to officially enroll in the course if a seat opens up and you are granted permission. To do this, you will drop your waitlisted course and re-register for it. The permission in the system will allow you to enroll in the class.

Helpful Tip! Would you like to receive notifications from Wolverine Access when changes are made to your academic record, such as a grade change or transfer credit is posted? You are able to "opt in" to those notifications through the Notifications Preferences in Wolverine Access. Check the "Enable Email Notifications" checkbox and don't forget to hit save!

Welcome to Ann Arbor!

For those of you who will be relocating to Ann Arbor for a residential program, we are excited to welcome you to our community! Ann Arbor is many things, including a bustling university town, culinary hotspot, and a tech hub with a walkable downtown that includes world-class arts and culture. Located in southeast Michigan's Lower Peninsula, Ann Arbor lies at the center of a greater collection of communities in Washtenaw County. With so many thriving communities nearby, Ann Arbor has become a cultural melting pot and urban oasis.
Ann Arbor Housing Options
On-campus Housing

On-campus housing consists of University owned and operated apartments and town homes.
Off-campus Housing

Off-campus Housing consists of privately owned and operated houses and apartments. Off-campus does not necessarily refer to the location, but merely that it is not operated by the University.
Co-ops

College students established the first housing co-op in Ann Arbor in 1932. The Inter-Cooperative Council (ICC) is now the largest student housing co-ops in the country!
Getting Around Town
Michigan Blue Buses

Free University of Michigan blue buses typically run every 7-10 minutes and travel throughout campus. View blue bus route information, the user guide, and get real-time bus arrival information through the Magic Bus mobile app.
The Ride

The Ride is Ann Arbor's city bus system. The Ride buses are free to U-M students with their Mcard. The Ride buses travel around campus, throughout Ann Arbor, and to some of the neighboring communities.

For students who need occasional use of a car the University recommends enrolling in a car-sharing program, like Zipcar. Membership in a car-sharing program allows you on-demand use of vehicles that are parked at various lots across campus.
