Dear Parents,

First, I want to thank you for your continued support throughout this time. We are thrilled that so many of our students are continuing to dance at home. The teachers are putting in many extra hours to execute the best virtual classes for our students. Seeing your children's faces during our live classes on Zoom, make the hours of work behind the scenes worth it. We can't thank you enough for your part in keeping our dance family moving forward during this prolonged stay at home order!

We are thrilled to have the majority of our dancers participating in our Digital Recital. The videos are coming in and it is exciting to see! We are waiting for final times for the live-stream of each of our Digital Recitals and will keep you all posted. It is our hope that even those who are not participating will watch along at home!

As we come toward the end of the 2019-20 Season, we've adjusted our end dates to make sure everyone has received the same amount of Live classes.

  • Early Childhood classes for ages 2-6, were originally scheduled to end May 8, however we will continue Live classes though May 23.
  • Classes for ages 6-18, were originally scheduled to end May 23, however we will continue Live classes though June 6.
  • For ALL Classes - as soon as we are allowed to plan for an in-person Recital, it is our intention to schedule some in-person classes to reunite and prepare to perform. There is still too much unknown for us to try to choose dates for this and we'll keep you posted as soon as we can put a stick in the sand for potential dates.

During the last two of the Governor's press conferences, he has mentioned that we are on track to move into phase 3 at the end of the month. I have been speaking with the Illinois Dept. of Public Health (IDPH) at least 1-2 times per week to get the latest updates and try to plan for multiple re-opening options. The current Restore Illinois plan will allow LoMastro to start to re-open during phase 3. However, we will not rush to re-open until feel we can do so safely. You have my word, I will not risk the health and safety of our students or faculty. Private lessons and small groups will be the first to return.

For those of you enrolled in Summer Camps and Dance Intensive with us, we are hopeful that we'll be able to host those programs in-person, potentially with some modifications. Camps offered at the beginning of June may need to be rescheduled and we'll be reaching out to those families within the next 2 weeks. We are hopeful that our Dance Intensive scheduled to begin July 6 will be able to continue as planned, potentially with fewer students in each classroom, or a rotating schedule to keep numbers of dancers in our facility within a required range.

As we re-open we plan to continue to live-stream classes for those who do not feel comfortable attending classes in-person. We also recognize that as we navigate a new normal there may be times when a stay at home order may return. We will remain agile and be able to "flip a switch" to virtual classes, if necessary.

Thank you for your continued support!

My best,

Loren LoMastro Specht
