Senior Warden Announces Call of Rev Burl Salmon
Dear Friends,
I have the pleasure to announce that your Vestry, with the recommendation of the Search Committee, has called the Rev Walter Burley Stattmann “Burl” Salmon to be the next Rector of The Falls Church Episcopal. Rev Salmon has accepted the call, and he will join us beginning on July 1st, 2021.
On behalf of the vestry, I’d like to thank the search committee. Chair Mark Hadley, and members Walt Cooper, Walker Hardy, Stephanie Pegues, Lara Ramsey, Carla Wilson, and Maury Wray, have worked tirelessly and prayerfully over the past 15 months to bring us our new Rector.

Coffee Hour by Another Name...and Time! Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. through May 26
Our Sunday morning offerings of 9:00 in-person worship, 10:15 Children's Chapel and worship, and the 11:15 outdoor service make for a busy and tight schedule! We are moving our Coffee Hour fellowship time to Wednesdays at 5:30 to accommodate clergy, staff and
lay leader schedules.
Since adding our in-person service and our children's formation programming, many folks just can't get to Coffee Hour at 10:00. On Wednesday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m., you are invited to join your parish family on Zoom (with your beverage of choice) and connect!

We are meeting on Acorn Island. If you are not sure you are registered for a group, please email John to confirm registration.
Youth are expected to maintain proper social distancing AND wear a mask at all times while at Youth Group. Youth are also encouraged to bring their own foldable lawn/outdoor chair (rather than using a chair from the church).

Endings and Beginnings Point to Resurrection Life Ahead for Us All
With the exciting news, resurrection news, that the Vestry has called your new rector, the ministry I have been called to share with you is coming to a close. I am thrilled for you, and I am happy and satisfied that the work God has called me to accomplish is accomplished! A fine priest has been called to serve alongside you as your rector. You are prepared to receive and welcome Burl and his husband into your midst as you embrace a new vision of ministry with him and each other. I know you will welcome them with the same radical hospitality and love with which you welcomed Tippy and me.
New lay leaders have emerged over the past 18 months and new expressions of ministry are developing. The Holy Spirit has been at work through you all, and particularly through your search team listening to the parish and the Holy Spirit as they discerned God’s person for this time. And then your Vestry continued that faithful work in making the call. And together, you will keep God’s mission going forward. MORE

The Little Free Food Pantry
On Fairfax Street near the church’s Thrift Shop is a small “take some food, leave some food” pantry (like the “little libraries” where people can take or leave a book). We are definitely seeing people use that pantry to supplement their groceries, and you can drop off non-perishable food items there at any time.
