Reminder: Increased Roadside Enforcement This Week, May 14-16, 2024
|
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck is set for May 14-16, 2024, spanning North America. This 3-day event will involve extensive inspections of commercial vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations, with a special focus this year on tractor protection systems and controlled substance/alcohol use. It's crucial for employers to reinforce policies against drug and alcohol use and regularly monitor the FMCSA U.S. Driver & Alcohol Clearinghouse for driver status.
Inspectors will conduct thorough North American Standard Level I Inspections, comprising a 37-step examination of vehicle components and driver documentation. Vehicles that pass Level I or V Inspections without critical violations may receive a CVSA decal valid for three months. Inspectors will also check the drivers' credentials, hours-of-service records, Clearinghouse status, seat belt usage, and potential impairment.

Test Scores Are No Longer Required

|
Your final opportunity is here: the TPGA Scholarship Application Round ends this Wednesday!
The Texas Propane Gas Association (TPGA) provides competitive scholarships for eligible Texas students, whether attending a two-year college, four-year university, or trade school.
TPGA invites student employees of member companies, as well as children and grandchildren of TPGA members pursuing higher education, to apply for a scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year. Don't miss this chance to alleviate tuition costs.
During last week's TPGA meetings, the TPGA Scholarship Foundation Board eliminated the requirement for applicants to submit SAT and ACT scores, which will no longer factor into the selection process.
Submit your application and transcripts by Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Board Meeting After Action Report / RRC Update
|
Last week, the Texas Propane Gas Association had April Richardson, with the Oversight & Safety Division of the Railroad Commission, attend our board meeting in Irving.
April provided several updates, and the board had an open dialogue with several requests that April facilitated in the days after the board meeting. We will be sharing that in a separate email communication this week.
The After Action Board Report, which will be sent separately this week, will provide several important updates, for instance, a pilot program aimed at getting customers' inspection reports the same day as inspections happen by email to check on phones, tablets, and desktops, as well as include several resources beneficial to propane marketers like detailed new AFS contacts as there have been several recent changes and the individual dates each of your trucks are due for inspection. STAY TUNED!

Do not let ProCOT Programs get axed. Help Texas get its fair share of funding from PERC. The reporting deadline is May 15, 2024
