RE Sunday: Our Religious Education Story
Rev. Kimberlee Tomczak Carlson
Alissa Rhode, Lead Music Director

Once upon a time a pandemic afflicted the world and going to First Church was not safe anymore. All the UU children and youth journeyed to the land of Zoom to discover how religious education had been recreated and renewed with family gatherings, book clubs, mystery friends, and interfaith discoveries. Join us this Sunday to celebrate our story, our families and our kindergarten and high school graduates!

  • Hear about, give feedback on, the COVID Re-Opening Team’s draft policy for when and how to safely re-open church.
  • Vote on new Board of Trustees and Nominating Committee members for the coming church year,
  • Learn about First Church accomplishments over the church year.

Get the Zoom link and sign up for the annual meeting, enter your name and email in this form at You will then receive information about how to join the online annual meeting.

UPDATE ON SANCTUARY REFLECTIONS. Due to the annual meeting this Sunday, May 16, we will not be having a session of Sanctuary Reflections after the service. We will hold sessions on May 23, May 30, and June 6. Then we will take a break for the summer. Thanks to all who come and share their reflections on the services.
NO COFFEE HOUR THIS SUNDAY. Our Annual Meeting is this Sunday after service at 11:15 so we will not be holding coffee hour this Sunday. Come join us at the meeting and see you next Sunday at coffee hour.
SEND US YOUR FLOWER PHOTOS FOR FLOWER COMMUNION. During the Sunday June 6 Flower Communion worship service, we will share your photos of the flowers you are virtually “bringing” to church. Please send original photos of the flowers you want to share with our community to by Thursday, May 27, 2021. We will use your photos to create a beautiful photo montage that will play during our livestreamed Flower Communion ritual! By emailing your original photos to us, you are giving us permission to livestream them during the June 6 worship service, and to leave them up on our YouTube worship service recording thereafter.

COVID CANDLE ON SUNDAYS. Because of the ways our lives are touched by loss and grief during the global pandemic, we have a simple ritual during Sunday worship called the “COVID Candle” when it is needed. During this unique time, when people cannot gather with their family and community to mourn, we offer to light the COVID Candle for any death of a loved one of one of our members. If you have had a loved one die from COVID-19, or any other cause of death, and would like the COVID Candle lit in their honor during Sunday worship, please contact one of the Ministers.
