May 15 is Refugee Sunday

Bishop Andrew Asbil designated Sunday, May 15, 2022, as Refugee Sunday in our Diocese.

"We have all seen the videos, photos and headlines over the past year: Afghanistan falling to the Taliban last August; civil war ravaging Ethiopia; and most recently, Russia’s continuing assault on Ukraine – not to mention ongoing conflicts in other parts of the world. The need is greater than ever."
Bishop Andrew Asbil

Refugee Sunday is observed near the feast of Pentecost, when the early Church first awakened to its calling to be a place of welcome for all nations. We are reminded of how our welcome transforms the world.

AURA and Diocesan staff are pleased to offer resources for your parish to celebrate Refugee Sunday, including video interviews with refugees and sponsors; updated fact sheets; an overview of the sponsorship process; and prayers and worship resources.

“Tending the Soul” is a series of honest and hopeful conversations for the Church and its leaders about ministry in this time. What’s changed and what are we learning? Where are we finding abundance in the face of disruption? What do we imagine for the future?
