The Wave
May 17, 2019
Happy Friday to you! It was another successful week at TRCS. We have finished all of our afternoon curriculum and are moving forward in our IP season. We are all looking forward to a final three weeks of the IP process. June is coming quickly! Please know that IP night on June 11th , which will showcase all of the hard work! IP night will start at 6:30pm this year.

Last Friday, we had a great time partnering with SOLVE at Mary S. Young park. We want to thank our students and staff for putting in a terrific effort to collect as much ivy as possible. We would also like to thank all the parents that volunteered and supported our entire team. We could not have done it without you! Thank you to Jill Oien, Teresa Chen, Stephanie Knapick, Malathi Sundramurthy, Lorena Candrian, Denise Huth, Jean Svadlenka, Sarah Carter, Sue Anne Williams, Sarah Hawkins, Jennie Wieland, Angela Bevill-Kohler, and Michelle Rivera.

Mindset thought of the week: Henry Ford was once quoted as saying, "Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success." As we wind down these last couple weeks let’s put this quote in action and continue to work together to finish this year strong! Have a great weekend and we will see everybody on Monday!

OSAS/MAP Testing Calendar
Thank you for getting your students to school on time and providing a healthy breakfast each morning after a good night's sleep so students are prepared for testing!
Upcoming Dates
Please visit our website at www.3rcs.org for the latest school calendar updates!
Volunteers Needed!
Our end of the year celebration & field day is coming June 12th! We are looking for parent volunteers to help support our 7th grade student leadership team the day of the event from 10:30-2:30 pm. Tasks would include overseeing stations, as well as assisting with serving lunch. If you are interested in spending a fun filled day at TRCS, please sign up here! Options are morning (10:30am - 12:30pm), afternoon (12:30pm - 2:30pm), or all day (10:30am - 2:30pm).
Scrip Center Closing
Some of you may have heard that the Scrip Center out of the Tigard Tualatin School District is closing in June. We will no longer be able to order locally for Scrip, but we are looking into other options for fundraising for Outdoor School. If you will have a 6th, 7th, or 8th grader next year, be watching for announcements when we return in the fall on how you can earn money towards your ODS fees!
2019-2020 School Year Intentions
We invite all parents to send in your intention forms for the 2019-2020 School Year! Click here for the form. These forms will be due to the TRCS office by Friday, May 24th at 4:00 pm. Please note, if you do not return your form by May 24th, your spot in the school will not be saved. We will be filling any openings from the lottery that is being held on May 31st @ 4:00.

As you consider next year, please keep in mind this is a choice that is family driven. We ask that these conversations happen at home. There can be undue pressure put on others and we want to keep our kids focused on their work - not on the drama that these intention forms can cause. Please be aware that your decision is confidential, and we need to know as we build enrollment numbers for the 2019-20 school year.

Additionally, we ask that when you make this choice and commitment, you stick to this decision. Any uncertainty or soft commitments for next year affects opportunities for new students and families at TRCS. We know these decisions can be difficult and a lot of thought goes into them. It is very important that everyone know that the decisions made affect more than just an individual and their family. It affects the community as a whole, too. We want to have a clear picture of who will be returning so we can give as many opportunities to those who wish to attend as possible. Thank you so much for your understanding and assistance as we prepare for next year!
Novice with Ms. Collins - OSAS testing is done for ELA, so we are back to making headway on our accordion books (4th research papers) and the IP literature projects. The goal will be to be close to done with both by the end of next week, though MAP testing will take at least one day, if not two. The students are being so diligent and positive. It's great to work with them!

Intermediate with Ms. Olson - The students have been putting their full effort into OSAS testing this week. Next week, we jump right back into IP, working on final drafts for literature and creative writing projects.

Advanced I with Ms. Bremont - The Advanced I group spent most of their time this week doing their best work on their state tests. Many students also finished the final drafts of their Creative Writing Projects, and moved on to their Literature Projects!

Advanced II with Ms. Elston - Advanced II had either a literature or creative writing project due today! They will continue working on the other project next week. Students are also now working on either a science or social studies project that is due on Thursday, May 23.

PBL with Ms. Staheli - PBL students are working on submitting the last few final drafts, as well as turning in their first project of either Creative Writing or Literature this week. They are also working on getting approved for integration projects and starting some truly creative work!
