PRAYER OF THE DAY

O God of glory, your Son Jesus Christ suffered for us and ascended to your right hand. Unite us with Christ and each other in suffering and in joy, that all the world may be drawn into your bountiful presence, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

...from the Pastor...

Hey!! What are those toys doing on the baptismal font? On closer inspection, you may notice that they are a Noah's Ark set - not all the animals the myth tells us were present are represented - but you get the idea. Did someone forget to put the playset away?

No, it was deliberately placed as a visual reminder of what 1Peter 20, when the writer of the letter references Noah and the building of the ark, as a prefiguring of baptism. While we should hesitate to apply Christological references to the Hebrew Scriptures (what we call the Old Testament) because the Hebrew Scriptures stand as Holy Scripture in their own right, we can understand the early church as using the image of water and cleansing in explaining what baptism does - 'drowns' the old self and gives us new life in Christ, with an identity as a child of God, empowered to love God and the world God has made.

A Reminder that our Get It Done in 101 Campaign will continue through the end of the year. This is a continuation of the campaign formerly known as Drive to ’25 with a goal to raise $25,000 pantry and kitchen improvements. New Get it Done in 101 envelopes are in the narthex. It is also a new fund offered in Tithe.ly, if you prefer to pay online.

Faith Formation

Are you interested in learning about the Christian faith? Lutheranism? St Paul Church?

Classes for those seeking membership in the church will be starting May 26 at 7pm on Zoom and in person.The following sessions will be June 2 and June 16, each lasting an hour each.

If you wish to be baptized, you should also be a part of these classes.

Please let me know your intentions so we have enough materials for everyone.

We will welcome new members June 21 through the Sacrament of Baptism and the Affirmation of Baptism.

 Lifeline (Free Smartphone Program)

Lifeline is a federal program that provides eligible low-income individuals with a free smartphone and free wireless phone service (free data, free monthly minutes and unlimited texting). This Lifeline program is operated by the federal government, and should not be confused with the state’s Lifeline utility assistance program.

If you participate in certain assistance programs like Medicaid, NJ SNAP or SSI, you automatically qualify for the Lifeline program.
