“When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you." – Luke 10:5

As you begin to see the calendar fill up with graduation parties, retirement parties, birthdays and summer barbecues, I encourage all to take on a mindset of prayer. First, recognize what a rare opportunity it is to be invited into a person or family’s home these days. COVID protocols, the busyness of life, traveling athletic leagues and a rise in privacy has shut down the “front porch” mindset of previous generations. If the door is open to you, by all means enter!

Secondly, consider that any home you have been invited into may in fact house a person of peace. Be alert to what the Spirit is doing as the Spirit is everywhere active and you are now joining in. If you observe family and acquaintances struggling with life stressors, silently pray over them and be ready to lend a listening ear. Physically touch the home and pray over it before you leave the premises if able to do so without disturbing those present. Finally, do not fear if the moment presents itself to speak a prayer of blessing over the family specifically as numbers dwindle from the gathering. When you have earned trust as a person of faith you will find the opportunities arise more frequently to do so.

Please join me in seeing God’s restoration activity everywhere you walk this summer season!

On the Adventure,

Supt. Ben

Pastors,

Join us for a time of refreshing and encouraging prayer we’re calling “He Restores my Soul” on Tuesday, May 24 at 2 p.m., EST (11 a.m., PST) sponsored by the National Prayer Ministry.

We’ll gather on Zoom, hear from the Word of God, pray, and be encouraged. It’s that simple – a time to bring and release burdens, concerns, weights, and struggles before the Lord and seek Him for His healing touch.

Please join us and share this opportunity with other pastors so we can encourage one another. No need to register, just to attend. Here’s the Zoom link:

Practical Training for Pastors

Multiple opportunities exist for pastors to receive theological education, but where can pastors turn for training and coaching about other key aspects of pastoral work such as building projects, board meetings, and officiating weddings and funerals? A new option is the School of Applied Ministry. Learn more as Pastors Ryan Stoops and Dave McGarrah share about Deer Flat Church launching the school to provide Practical Training for Pastors.
