Greetings Bradley Beach-

Continued good weather, just needs to warm up a bit more this weekend and next week to get us in the mood for S U M M E R!

Project #1 Beachfront

Outfall Pipe on Ocean Park/ McCabe Avenue beaches.  Progress continues through week 5.  Mobilization, Sheathing, dewatering, and excavation/ removal of the existing pipe is complete.  The new pipe has been delivered and installation has begun. After that, the final steps are removal of the sheathing, clean-up, and demobilization.  All activities are weather dependent and subject to final material deliveries being on time.  So far- so good! On schedule and no surprises.

We are still predicting all beach access and locker and mat placement will be in place before July 1st.  We appreciate your ability to adapt for a few weeks for this important project.  Safety First!

Project #2 Completing the “Phase II” Sewer project.

The curbing and apron work is progressing on schedule. We are complete on this work for Third Avenue; and have moved to Fourth Avenue (needs not as extensive as Third Ave.).  Milling began this week; and paving started this morning.  We are working hard to keep to our timetable of completions before Memorial Day, although timing is tight. Weather permitting, we’ll be on or close to our objective!

Project #3 Walking Bridge

The walking bridge on Lake Terrace Drive between Bradley Beach and Ocean Grove- receiving a needed facelift.  We received and installed the new wire guards that complemented the wooden railings.  This style is like the construction on the new pier in Ocean Grove.  Final “finishing” carpentry is completed.  We are planning a “ribbon cutting” in the coming weeks- hope you can attend!

A few other non-infrastructure news items I want to mention-

Our BIG Celebration:

Our BIG Celebration our 130th Anniversary celebration:

Bradley Beach is proudly celebrating its 130th Anniversary, launching last week with beautiful flags on Main Street and our Memorial Day Parade.  On June 10th we will celebrate the Flavors of Bradley Beach with generous community contributions from 25 local businesses and bands! A committee of 20 terrific Bradley Beach volunteers, with input from the Borough, has planned this celebration. Parents of graduating Bradley Beach Elementary School eighth grade students will be our guests!  The Recreation Center will also offer a free party for children on 6/10! Our 130th Anniversary community celebrations will continue with Alliance Week 6/24-6/30 and ParkFest on 7/9. The Borough, Bradley Beach Business & Community Alliance (BBBCA), and the Bradley Beach Historical Society are partners for the 130th Anniversary Plan with the support of our sponsors!

The May 13 Spring Market in Riley Park was a rousing success.  The weather cooperated and the park was packed with residents, visitors, vendors, and volunteers!  Next event up in the park- June 24 Dinner and Movie in Park 6pm-10pm.

Our Memorial Day weekend officially kicks off our summer here in Bradley.  Our Parade on Ocean Avenue starts at 10:00 AM.  Following that, we have vendors and food trucks/stands, along with a few surprises for the children planned for Saturday and Sunday.  Please join us.  More importantly, our Memorial Day ceremony is at Riley Park on Monday at 11:00 AM- a moving event.

We are getting ready for the summer season to start.  Public Works, Public Safety, the Beach TEAM, and the Administration have been working hard to ensure 2023 is our best summer season ever.  We hope you fully participate in our Bradley Beach Experience.

Last, I’d like to give a shout out to Council President Meredith DeMarco for covering for me at an important Council meeting last week.  Although I was out of the country on a family vacation; I did call in for a part of the meeting to participate in some important topics/ votes.  I understand earlier in the meeting, a resident swore I was on the Promenade and was skipping the meeting.  Well, below is the proof I was in fact in Dublin!

We have a lot to be thankful for here in Bradley Beach, and much to celebrate. We will continue to focus on Service and Progress as a Municipal Team.

Don’t believe me- click and see what NJ Monthly says about our community!

Thank you- and see you around town!
