All Church Gathering: Mission Valley Property Affordable Housing

Join us for lunch and a presentation on Sunday, June 1. We’ll hear from Rev. Trudy and our Property Transition Team about where we’re at with our year of discernment recommendations, with a focus on the property transition initiatives. Visit our website for a refresher on the full listing of task force recommendations.
It will be an extremely informative session to get everyone caught up on what we learned, where we’re at, and what’s next (extensive visioning to bring affordable housing to our Mission Valley campus!). Please register in advance so we have an accurate headcount for lunch and you receive livestream details if you plan to join online!
Following our June 1 gathering, there will be in-person listening sessions where you are invited to have guided discussions with the Property Transition Team to help shape the direction we take. These sessions are tentatively scheduled for June 29, July 13, and August 24 between our Sunday morning services. We will also offer sessions on Zoom for those who are unable to attend in person. Keep an eye out for additional details for the listening sessions!

Memorial Garden Flowers
Bring flowers and plants to honor your loved ones.
If your loved one with a niche or memorial plaque in the Memorial Garden, you're invited to bring a potted plant or flowers. We will plant your potted plant as close to the column of your loved one's location as we can. Cut flowers will be left in vases as long as they remain looking good. We will leave pots and vases in the southwest corner of the MG for you to take back home. If you have questions, please contact Nick Hubsmith.

UWF Bluegrass Bash
BBQ Lunch & Concert | Sat. June 14 | 12 PM | Linder Hall | RSVP
Come eat and enjoy a bluegrass concert performed by the well-known JD Givens & Co, a favorite among the local bluegrass crowd! This is a fun event for all ages and just in time for Father's Day, so grab your family and friends and join in on the fun. Kids 9 and under are free! Adults (17+) are $20 each and kids (10 - 16) are $10 each.

VBS is Coming & We Need Volunteers!

We're going on a Road Trip, and you're invited! VBS will take place across four Sundays from 12 to 3 PM each day. We're packing it full of fun, helping our kids embark on an adventure with God. But we need your help to make it a success.

Sanctuary Exterior Painting Project
Scaffolding is up but the Sanctuary remains open!
The exterior of our sanctuary is getting some much needed repairs and a fresh coat of paint. While the scaffolding is highly visibly, we've ensured the building will remain accessible while the project is underway. No changes are needed for the interior and worship and meetings will not be affected.

San Diego Pride Parade
Donations needed! Plus, save the date: Sat. July 19
First Church San Diego will once again participate in the San Diego Pride Parade. We invite you to join us in sharing the message of unconditional love by giving a financial donation to help cover the costs of parade entry, decorations, and give aways. You can give online, through our weekly offering, or in the church office. If giving in person, please include a memo indicating that the money is for Pride Parade.
And be sure to mark your calendar for Sat. July 19 to come participate in the parade! We'll share specific parade participation details as we get closer to the date.

Shoes That Fit: Thank you for your support!
75 pairs of shoes delivered for local school kids
The Shoes That Fit volunteers have completed the purchase and delivery of shoes to Logan, Porter, Cherokee, Adams and Rosa Parks elementary schools (15 pairs to each school). Thank you to everyone for your continued support of this important program!

It's time to restock the pantry!
We're seeking donations to help fill the clothing closet, food bags, and hygiene kits that we make available to our neighbors in need. Here are some items that would be especially helpful: Ramen noodles (Beef and Chicken), applesauce, peanut butter, soup, SpagettiO's, Chef Boyardee, tuna (can or packet), boxed mac & cheese, fruit cups, vienna sausage, bottled water. If you are donating canned foods, please look for pull tab tops for easy opening.
Donations can be brought to the church office on Sundays and during the week.

Please sign your kids in in the Lower Sanctuary before the start of service.
We start in the Sanctuary for 9 AM Traditional Worship and then leave as a group immediately following A Time With Children. Parents pick up kids from The Cove immediately following service. No Sunday School on the 1st Sunday of the month – kids are encouraged to worship with their family and participate in Communion.
Middle School and High School students are invited to sit together in the Sanctuary every Sunday to worship as a group!
