Changing organizational culture starts in the executive's office
WSAE's April 2014 meeting in Green Bay, where Humanize authors Jamie Notter and Maddie Grant facilitated a private discussion with the association CEOs in attendance, has really started me thinking about the unique role that the staff executive has in changing and shaping the culture of any organization.
When it was my turn to summarize my thoughts on the subject, I said that I was coming to see successful associations as those in which leadership and decision-making are not concentrated at the top, but diffused productively across many levels of the organization. Given the ever-increasing need in our environment for nimbleness, innovation and new value creation, I believe this is one of the central challenges my organization is facing. Read more.

 May CEO Roundtable
Thursday, May 29, West Allis 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Join your fellow CEOs for the next Milwaukee CEO Roundtable May 29, hosted by Eric Lanke, CAE at the National Fluid Power Association. CEO Roundtables provide the occasion to share ideas, information and challenges in an informal setting. This is the perfect opportunity to get to know your CEO peers while discussing topics of interest. Previous discussion topics have included: anti-trust issues, protocols/determining factors for allowing employees to work from home, challenges of leasing and finding the right size office to balance staff needs against budget, changes in the way we recruit and hire staff, and the different membership structures of our respective organizations. |

Take advantage of your WSAE membership by posting in one of the communities on wsae.org. Not sure how to get started? View our simple instructions. Following are some recent discussions. Go online to see the responses. - We are looking for a consultant based in our region (Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago) who can come in this year and perform a CRM audit for us and make either replacement or existing system investment recommendations on a tight timeframe.
- We are in the process of doing a total "re-make/re-organization" of our Board of Directors. I am looking for any kind of resources out there to assist us. That could be in the form of a book(s), articles, links or any staff or volunteers who can offer assistance to us in the process.
- I have been reading a lot lately, about trends in leadership for 2014 and beyond. I thought it would be interesting to hear what folks are reading and talking about in their own peer groups.
