Work Session

Beth Martin, Director of Student Services, presented requested information to the School Board on the Extended Kindergarten Day study. The Work Session addressed the impact of adding the program at Crow Island School and examined the costs of a full-day and an extended-day (2:00 p.m. dismissal) program. The School Board discussed the various options under consideration to inform their decision and later approved the implementation of Extended-Day Kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year. By November 2016, the School Board will determine how the Extended-Day Kindergarten implementation will occur from a logistical, space, and enrollment standpoint.

Ms. Kocanda also congratulated three students at Carleton Washburne School, who were selected as winners in the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Promising Young Writers competition.
