Vote for Healthy Waltham by May 27!
Waltham residents, we need your vote! Please support healthy foods for all Waltham kids. Healthy Waltham was selected by Belmont Savings Bank to participate in their Waltham charitable giving program to receive up to $10,000. But we need your vote! Please click here:
Click on the vote now button and select Healthy Waltham. The top 5 organizations will receive funds and we are currently #6! We could be just a few votes away. It's easy and you do not have to be a bank customer to vote, just a Waltham resident. We would use the funds to continue our Healthy Foods in Schools program and traveling chef in the 2016-17 school year.  You can vote on multiple devices, so vote from your phone, laptop, and iPad through May 27, and please share widely. Thank you for making Waltham as healthy as it can be!

Yummy Recipes for Wellness Event
Healthy Waltham was recently invited to participate in the customer appreciation day at Johnson's Compounding & Wellness on Main St! Chef Reva's recipes were a hit: dark chocolate bark, pesto pizza, granola, and smoothies. You will definitely want to check these recipes out. Thank you Johnson Compounding for sponsoring our Fit in 5 Challenge too! More photos of the customer appreciation day can be found here.

Did You Catch us on Cable?
We were recent guests on Sally Collura's local cable TV show "Around Town" airing on the Waltham Channel, WCAC TV. It was great chatting with Sally about healthy living and talking about our Fit in 5 Wellness Challenge, going on now. If you missed the broadcast, you can view it on WCAC's website here.

Waltham High School Health Fair
We had a great day attending Waltham High School's annual Health Fair. We talked to lots of students about healthy living and cutting down on sugary beverages. Students were surprised to see how much sugar is found in many common beverages! To avoid empty calories and excess sugar, water is your best choice, or choose seltzer with a splash of 100%  fruit juice. For more photos of the day, please click here . Thank you RTN Federal Credit Union for sponsoring our table! Great to see Alex from Waltham Fields Community Farm there too.

Fitzgerald School Garden
Congratulations to Fitzgerald Elementary School on their new garden! A group of parents, teachers and kids gathered on April 30 to transform a terraced area near the small playground on Beal Road into their new garden. Great job by parent Allison Smith for coordinating the project with financial support from the Waltham Education and Beyond Foundation.

Upcoming Events:
  • Waltham Riverfest is June 17 & 18
  • Stay tuned for news of our special Waltham Farmer's Market days when you can sample a tasty vegetable dish prepared by Chef Reva
