Paddle Boat Mixer

Sponsorship Form

A Word from the Board - Vice Chairman- Sharon Spero

Summer is my favorite season of the year.  I look forward to warm weather and spending time outdoors.  One of the unique benefits of living in St. Charles is the beautiful Fox River that runs through the center of our community.  At the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce we celebrate summer and the river each year in June with the Annual Paddle Boat Mixer.  It is such a unique event to St. Charles where two Paddleboats motor down the river while everyone on-board enjoys great food from our local restaurant chamber members, drink and networking.  For all the baseball fans, this year's theme is the "Crosstown Classic" and will be held on June 22 nd from 5 - 7pm at Pottawatomie Park.  This is a FREE event for Chamber members with the additional opportunity to sponsor the boats and speak to the group about your business for an additional $50 per boat.  My company, Money Mailer of Fox River Valley, sponsors the event each year and we truly enjoy the fellowship and special setting that this Mixer affords to all participants.

Golf is another summertime favorite activity for many.  The Chamber has two great golf events coming up that are perfect for the serious players and duffers alike.  This year the Mini-Golf Outing will be held on June 2 nd at the Riverview Miniature Golf Course in Pottawatomie Park.  No special golfing skills required.  And for those that want to enjoy a full day of golf, food and fun the 41 st Annual Golf Outing will be held on August 8 th.  I look forward to seeing you on the course!!

Marketing Bootcamp:
Power Branding: Maximizing the Impact of your Visual Marketing
City Municipal Building - Council Chambers
2 E. Main Street
St. Charles, IL 60174

After attendees met in groups to discuss first impressions and descriptors of their colleague's company logo, Jane Cooper of Cooper-Hong gave her presentation on Branding.  She mentioned the difference between Branding and a Brand.  She mentioned that a powerful brand is created by aligning: your vision - top management's aspiration for your company; your culture; and your image.  One key point was our discussion of "why" we are in business doing what we do.

The Marketing Bootcamp series will continue in the Fall.  For more information, please call the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce at 630-584-8384.

City News

Promote Your Special Event with Temporary Signage
With Spring finally starting and Summer close at hand, the City understands this time of year can be busy and productive for St. Charles business owners. Now is when many business are considering hosting seasonal sales and other warm weather events (cookouts, pig roasts, etc.).

With this in mind, the City of St. Charles wants you to know that there are multiple options for temporary signage to help promote your business and special events.

Did you know that we have a temporary sign permit application? Every business in town may obtain a temporary sign permit four times per calendar year. Each permit is good for 14 days. The signs can advertise sales, special events, grand openings, etc. Interested in more than just a banner? A business can also use the temporary sign permit to place other forms of advertisement for their events as well. The Zoning Ordinance names these signs "Attention Getting Devices," which generally refers to balloon signs, pennants, flags, streamers and searchlights.

Some restrictions apply:
  • Permitted sizes of banner signs vary based on the size of the property the business is located on.
  • Temporary signage must be placed on the same property that contains the business.
  • There are special placement and time restrictions for "Attention Getting Devices."
  • Once a 14-day temporary sign permit has been issued, the business must wait 30 days before it can apply for another permit.
  • Each sign permit fee is $45.00.
More about the Temporary Sign Application is at www.stcharlesil.gov/sites/default/files/business/703-10818.pdf or call the Building & Code Enforcement Division at (630) 377-4406

Business of the Month
Heartland Bank and Trust Company

Heartland Bank and Trust Company is widely recognized as one of the strongest and most progressive banks in the area. We're a locally owned community bank whose roots are right here in the heartland. The Drake family, who came to Central Illinois in 1852, has been in banking for over 90 years. With the third generation of the family taking an active role in the banking business, we continue this tradition.

Fast, efficient service is important. For example, when you need a personal or business loan, you'll avoid going through several layers of management. Management decisions are made every day at Heartland Bank, not by some out-of-town corporation. Local ownership and management means we set banking policies and philosophies to suit the needs of the communities we serve.

Banking is personal. We build strong customer relationships by getting to know our customers and understanding their needs. The phrase "small enough to know you, big enough to serve you" is what Heartland Bank is all about.

At Heartland Bank, we're proud of the strength of our bank, the capabilities we have, the services we offer, and the people who offer those services to you. When you compare banks in terms of their strength, Heartland Bank stands tall. Get to know us and you'll understand why.

Heartland Bank and Trust Company is an independently owned community bank with assets of $3 billion. Headquartered in Bloomington, IL, the bank has offices in communities throughout Illinois. The bank offers a complete line of financial services to commercial and retail customers. More information is available on the bank's website at  www.hbtbank.com .
