Introducing the FHBC RESPECT Program
RESPECT is the collective responsibility of everyone involved in field hockey to create a fair, safe and enjoyable environment in which the game can take place.

We will be continuing to soft launch our RESPECT Program through the remainder of the 2016-17 Season. We have already had positive feedback from the initial roll-out at the T2C Championships, the T2T Festival and the VIT.

The intent of the Program is to target all levels of the game. Through ongoing education and awareness, this program is designed to address concerns related to poor coaching practices, abuse of umpires/officials, respect between players, and issues involving spectators and fans on the sideline. The RESPECT Program will target local, regional, and provincial field hockey programs and events throughout the junior and senior seasons. The program will attempt to inspire community clubs and leagues to implement and promote the campaign, and promote positive behaviours within their respective environments.

More information will become available as the Program is fully launched at the start of the 2017-18 Season.

2017 Boys & Girls Regional Program Tournaments
This past month we hosted our marquee Regional tournaments. The Train 2 Compete Championships were held at UBC from April 21st to 23rd. Our Train 2 Train Regional Festival was held at Tamanawis from May 5th to 7th. Both tournaments featured Boys & Girls teams, as well as an impressively high level of field hockey. These tournaments served as a selection point to our Provincial Programs, and it was a difficult task for our selectors due to the quality of competition at both tournaments. Congratulations to all of the athletes that competed in our high performance programs this season. We look forward to seeing you next season! Good luck to all of our graduating athletes on your future endeavours.

To view full results from the tournaments, visit our Tournament Management Systems website. Please note that winners were not declared at the Train 2 Train Festival, even though scores were recorded.

All of these teams will be competing in the National Championship Festival at Tamanawis from July 18th to 25th.

All athletes were selected to the Provincial Program at the completion of the 2016-17 Regional Program. Athletes were evaluated by coaches and selectors at the Regional Tournaments held at the culmination of the Program.
