 Working Together, Building Together
Carlos Bell, President
On behalf of the ACPE Board of Directors, I want to recognize the excellent and well-attended national conference celebrating 50 years as an association. The 2017 Annual Conference theme "What We Need is Here" demonstrates our commitment to be "The Standard for Spiritual Care & Education" for the next generation. We have a cause that refuels us and a commitment that refocuses us as we celebrated with integrity 50 years as an association. We can move forward with confidence that ACPE is on the right track!

Linda Wilkerson,
Like most committees of ACPE, the Finance and Audit Committee is working hard to implement the necessary changes to support the work of the association and its new structure. I presented the following report the Board of Directors at our meeting earlier this month:

Cindy Ethridge and Jessica Story of Warren Averitt, our auditors, presented to the board our consolidated financials for 2016. We are pleased to share we have a clean audit, and they noted the many improvements to our internal financial controls (i.e. checks and balances). We are still working to improve some areas, but we want to publicly acknowledge the work of Tammy Davis, our CPA, and Zizi Krasteva, accounting support, for their outstanding work.

Updates from the Accreditation Commission
Wayne Maberry,
Accreditation Chair
The Accreditation Commission had a full agenda and worked on many things. One of the most rewarding items of the meeting is that two centers were granted Continued Accreditation with Commendations.

Commendations are reserved for centers who demonstrate practice of the highest quality of education and represent best practice related to a specific standard/set of standards. With excitement, the Accreditation Commission is proud to recognize the following centers and supervisors for their outstanding work:

Maine Medical Center (The Reverend Kitty Garlid)
for Standards 304 and 308.6

Urban CPE Consortium (Sister Barbara Sheehan)
for Standards 309.2, 309.4, 309.5, 311.2, 311.9, 312.2, 312.7

Congratulations to these two centers and supervisors!  We look forward to sharing more information with you in the near future about these commendations.

Congratulations to ACPE's Newly Certified Educators
Congratulations to the ACPE Associate Educators and ACPE Certified Educators who passed certification committees at the spring meeting in Minneapolis, MN!

Stephen Robinson,
LDC Chair
We have come a long way from the hard work we did together in Denver to dream out loud about how we organize ourselves to do the work of our association, and truly set the standard for spiritual care and education. The Redesign Implementation Team (RIT) has been working diligently to transition us from our existing commissions and committees to the commissions and committees of our new design. I spent the day on Saturday after the conference meeting with the RIT, and getting clear about the roles and expectations of all of our committees and commissions, and now the Leadership Development Committee (LDC) has begun the task of finding leaders to do the work.

Melissa Walker-Luckett, Chair,
2017 Annual Campaign
We kicked off the 2017 Sowing Seeds for Our Holy Work Annual Campaign & Friendly Decade's Giving Competition at the ACPE Annual Conference & 50th Anniversary Celebration in Minneapolis! Because of you, we raised close to $25,000 in gifts and pledges in under 10 minutes at the Foundation Donor Dessert Reception, another $3,600 at the Presidential Dinner, and $4,450 at our first ever ACPE Conference Silent Auction! We also welcomed George Grant as the 2017 Annual Campaign chair-elect. What a wonderful way to celebrate our 50th anniversary as the premier provider of spiritual care and education!

You can make a significant gift to ACPE that costs you nothing now, and will keep on giving for years to come. Your gift can also memorialize a loved one. Here's how:

A gift in your will is one way you can secure your estate and create an impactful legacy with ACPE. A gift in your will has many advantages:
As a new initiative focusing special attention on the professional well-being of our Supervisors, we are proud to share this unique opportunity to travel together. In late January 2018 (specific dates to be determined), ACPE will be hosting a mission to Israel, a unique country that is home to many religions. This is a voluntary trip that is open to members of ACPE and their spouses/partners/significant others.

The mission will be a 10-day experience designed to foster community, offer opportunities for learning, to engage with one another, to experience the holy sites of Judaism, Christianity and Islam as well as the modern state of Israel, and to have professional opportunities to engage with colleagues in Israel who are in the emerging field of spiritual care with site visits to centers.

What a conference! Thank you to everyone that joined us in Minneapolis, MN. Keep checking ACPE's website and YouTube for pictures, videos and presentations from the 2017 ACPE Conference and 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Also, there's still time to provide feedback! The Annual Conference Survey closes tomorrow  at 5PM EST.
