Himalayan Pink Sea Salt

 This gourmet salt is pure, hand-mined deep inside the pristine Himalayan mountains. The high mineral content of the Himalayan salt crystals range in color from sheer white to varying shades of pink to deep reds. Our Himalayan salts are mined from dark pink crystals, the finest quality Himalayan Salt available. The dark crystals have the most minerals and nutrients.

LaPlaya Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Crisp, lively, rich, and full.  Yellow color. Aromas of pink grapefruit, grass, cascade hops, and lemon skin with a soft, tangy, bone-dry medium body and a seamless, intricate, medium-long lemon zest, pink grapefruit, tangerine, and green apple finish with no tannins and no oak.           Carol Firenze loves olive oil!  Ask her family, friends and fans and they will say she is the best advertisement for her popular and cleverly written book, The Passionate Olive - 101 Things to do with Olive Oil, which is packed with history and how-to information about olive oil.  With enthusiasm and vivaciousness about this liquid gold, her desire is to educate others about the history, health benefits and beauty of olive oil.  That desire now extends to children in her latest charming coloring book, Cattivo Olivo & the Tree of Liquid Gold.
          Carol earned her Olive Oil Sommelier Certificate from IRVEA ((Research Institute for Excellence in Food) in Tuscany and her Olive Oil Consultant Certificate from the Italian Culinary Institute in New York. She is a former board member of the California Olive Oil Council and a frequent contributor to the Olive Oil Source and national magazines. She holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of San Francisco. 
          A popular speaker, she lectures worldwide and hosts seasonal Olive Harvest Adventures in Tuscany, Umbria and California.
Blueberry, Halloumi, and Honeyed Walnut Salad
Add grilled chicken or fish for a light, fresh lunch

Ingredients (Sold at Vita Sana)


For Honeyed Walnuts:
For Salad:
  • 8 C. fresh spinach and arugula
  • 1 C. blueberries
  • 1/2 C. Halloumi cheese, crumbled
  • Thinly sliced red onion
For the Blueberry Herb Vinaigrette:
To make the Blueberry Herb Vinaigrette:
Whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and dijon mustard, and set aside
To make the Honeyed Walnuts:
Preheat oven to 400.  Combine olive oil and honey in a bowl.  Add walnuts, and stir to combine.  Place on baking sheet and spread out in a single layer.  Place in oven for about 10 minutes; stir halfway through cooking.  Remove from oven and sprinkle with sea salt. Spread onto parchment paper that has been sprayed with cooking spray and set aside to cool.
To assemble the salad:
Either in a large bowl or on individual serving plates arrange arugula and spinach.  Add blueberries, Halloumi cheese, and sliced red onion.  Drizzle with vinaigrette (toss if in a large bowl), and scatter walnuts over the top.  Serve immediately.

Frozen Sauvignon Blueberry Lemonade

Ingredients (Sold at Vita Sana)
  • 2 cups fresh lemonade
  • 2 cups berry juice (blueberry or pomegranate)
  • 1 cup LaPlaya Sauvignon Blanc
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
Add all ingredients to a blender. Puree until ice is crushed and mixture is smooth. Pour into glasses, garnish with mint and blueberries. Serve immediately.
