Psalm 127:1-2

" Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep."
Living Not in Vain

Without the Lord involved at the helm, things we work to build and protect and spend time and energy thinking about, figuring out, planning and working for, are all things done in vain (of no use or result). With the Lord involved at the helm, with Him leading and guiding, and with Him being sought and trusted during these efforts, everything changes. Any worry, anxiety and stress is unnecessary. It's not our strength, but the Lord's. It's not our wisdom, but the Lord's. It's not just our burden, but the Lord's as well. And rest is included! Ultimately, more work gets done in less time. And it's not just work that is temporary and leads to nothing. It's work that is eternal and leads to bigger and better - our eternal reward!

Is the Lord the ultimate builder of what we put forth effort towards? Is the Lord the ultimate protector of who/what we want protected and cared for? May we find peace and rest in Christ alone at being able to say YES to those questions!

Can Christian Men and Women be Friends?

Check out this article written by Paul Maxwell through the Desiring God online ministry. He navigates male and female friendships within the church very well and brings Biblical, godly wisdom and practical advice for having these friendships.

"When our texts aren't private, our meetings aren't sneaky, our intimacy not shrouded and smirking, we can participate in the kind of pure intimacy in male-female friendships that is public and commendable, filled with grace and truth."

"Men and women, let's be diligent in wisdom, relentlessly above reproach, and let's be friends in Christ."
