Spring Updated Information Needed!

Hello Chamber Members,

The Sault Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank you for your membership and support of the Chamber. As a part of your membership to the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce, we try our best to advertise your business the best we can. One of the ways we get information about your business out to the public is our brochure walls located here inside the office. The tourist traffic in the office here at the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce has been starting to get busier, especially now that the Soo Locks are open. The first thing people look to when they enter the office is the brochure wall. It is important that we have your latest brochures here in the office. Please take advantage of this Chamber Member Benefit by dropping off any new or updated Business brochures or business cards.  If your business offers some type of admission then please make sure we have the correct amount listed on our 2018 Rate Sheet by calling me here at the Chamber at (906) 632-3301.  We want these brochure and business card walls to be as Member friendly as possible. We look forward to having your brochure and business information prominently displayed at our Chamber Office.

Thank You,
Melissa Meehan
Office Manager
Spring Economic Luncheon
"State of the Community"
On Thursday May 3rd the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2018 Spring Economic Luncheon at Lake Superior State University's Superior Room. The delicious Luncheon was catered by LSSU catering and a fantastic job was done by them.  Thank You to all the staff at LSSU catering for a hands down superb job.  Also, a big Thank You goes out to our speakers, Chris Olsen from the Chippewa County EDC, Dr. Peter Mitchell and Dr. Ashley Moerke from Lake Superior State University, and Rory Ring of the Sault Ste Marie Ontario Chamber of Commerce.  All the speakers had very interesting information about our community and surrounding areas to share with our luncheon guests.  We here at the Chamber would also like to thank all of our Sponsors of the luncheon as well as everyone who bought tickets!  Without all of YOU these luncheons would not be possible, so THANK YOU!

Student Citizen Award  Scholarship
Congratulations Matt Knowles!
Every year The Sault Area Chamber of Commerce sends out information on the Student Citizen Scholarship to High Schools in Sault Ste Marie and Surrounding Areas.  The Student Citizen Scholarship is for $1,000 and is composed from (4) $250 sponsors.  This year the sponsors were Soo Co-Op Credit Union, Old Mission Bank, Parker's Ace Hardware, and Central Savings Bank.  The High School Seniors send their application to the Chamber of Commerce and the winner is chosen by the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Executive Committee.  If the Senior chosen is planning to attend Lake Superior State University than the college adds another $1,000 to the scholarship by deducting the additional $1,000 off their tuition for their first semester.  This year the Chamber Executive Committee read over several scholarship applications, all of which had very good candidates but in the end it was Matt Knowles's Application that met the most requirements and stood out the most.  Congratulations Matt!
