Adjust Your Prescribing Practices:
New Law Limits Opioid Prescriptions

On Monday, Gov. John Hickenlooper signed SB18-22: Clinical Practice for Opioid Prescribing. This state law limits the number of opioid pills that can be prescribed by healthcare providers, including Colorado dentists.

The law took effect Monday. Here's what you need to know.
CDA in the Community: Water Festival

The CDA took part in the 25th annual Aurora Youth Water Festival. The theme was "Small Changes = Big Savings: Turn Off the Water While Brushing Your Teeth." The CDA and other oral health groups donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, and educational materials.  Learn more about this festival.
Input Wanted for June 14 Silver Diamine Fluoride Hearing

On June 14, the Colorado Dental Board is holding a hearing on Rule XXVI, the Application of Silver Diamine Fluoride by Dental Hygienists. The CDA suggests oral health professionals weigh in. The board wants to identify the rule's effect on consumers. That's where you come in. Make plans to participate.
Join the CDA Team at the Heart and Stroke Walk

The CDA and the American Heart Association have partnered to educate the public on the link between gum disease and heart disease. To kick off this partnership, the CDA has established a team to walk in the June 2 Denver Heart and Stroke Walk.
CDA President Addresses Dental School Graduates

CDA President Dr. Carol Morrow gives the CU School of Dental Medicine commencement speech 12 years after she addressed her peers at her own graduation. Plus, CDA Executive Director Greg Hill is recognized as an honorary alumni.

Colorado Dental Board Needs New Member 

The Colorado Dental Board has an open seat. Oral surgeons, in particular, are encouraged to apply, though general dentists and other dental specialists also may apply for future open positions on the board. Apply now.
CE in Crested Butte:  Make It a Weekend Getaway

Annual Session is June 7-10 in Crested Butte. Why not start earning CE credits toward the next dental licensure cycle now? CE courses are on Saturday, June 9, and our keynote speaker is in the morning on Friday, June 8.

CDA House of Delegates Meets in June 

The CDA's governing body convenes each year at the Annual Session. The House of Delegates, made up of representatives from the state's component societies, votes on resolutions that affect the CDA and its membership. This year's resolutions are now available. Among the resolutions is 12-18-BA, regarding a dues increase. Check out this year's resolutions.

2018 National Signing Day a Success  

The CDA and MDDS hosted the CU Leadership Symposium for fourth year dental students and second year International Student Program students to coincide with National Signing Day. That day, 79 students signed up for membership with the American Dental Association, a state association, and a local dental society. Read more.
