Each May, we celebrate Girls Inc. Week and bring awareness to an important issue impacting the lives of girls. This year, in line with our  #GirlsToo: Respect Starts Young campaign , we are encouraging people everywhere to #BeUpstanding with the goal of empowering everyday individuals to play a role in responding to and preventing sexual harassment.
Consider these scenarios. You walk by a couple fighting and hear one person say to the other, "Why do you have to be so stupid? You are so worthless!" Or, you overhear a colleague or classmate comment on a sexual assault making headlines saying, "She got what was coming to her." What do you do? Are you a bystander who does nothing or do you become an upstander?

Girls Inc. of Long Island is committed to highlighting the voices of the girls we serve.
