Hello
As summer heat starts to swell, Frederick starts thinking about baseball, brewing, and biotech. The
Frederick Keys are currently running 2nd in the Carolina League at 25-24 (.510) and are a great bet for summer fun! Frederick continues to brew up new things across the city with a great batting order -
Warehouse Cinema on the
Golden Mile being issued building permits,
Smoketown Brewery expanding its footprint from Brunswick to Downtown Frederick, and the
Alive at Five shows kicking off along Carroll Creek Park. Each year at this time, those of us in economic development focus on growing our maturing life science community here in Frederick by pitching Maryland and Frederick as a
top biotech location at the globally attended
BIO 2019 Exhibition in Philadelphia. Frederick has emerged as a biotech powerhouse batter and our trade show booth attracts hundreds of scientists and biotech business representatives over three days to chat about what Frederick has to offer including over 80 biotech companies, great life science business locations, and a talented workforce second to none. Also this month the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (
FNLCR) and its contracting partner
Leidos Biomedical Research Inc are knocking in runs at their annual Technology Showcase on June 12th at the FNLCR in Riverside Research Park. The healthcare and professional, scientific, and technical services industries have a batting order of more than 14,000 jobs here in our fair city - Frederick.
So enjoy your summer days at the ballpark !
Best,
