Oh That Pea!
Join us for a charming presentation of the "Once Upon a Mattress" production by our Music Theatre Troupe on Friday, May 17th at 5 pm or Saturday, May 18th at 1 pm, at Improv Asylum on Boston's Hanover Street !

Our Music Theatre Troupe production of  "Once Upon a Mattress"  captivates students with the work of Rodgers & Hammerstein, by Mary Rodgers (music), Marshal Barer (lyrics), and Dean Fuller & Jay Thompson (book) specially adapted for young people to perform. The original play was written as an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea, and became a popular choice for drama programs and community theatre groups. Mary Rodger’s classic Once Upon a Mattress is a delightful musical comedy that is sure to become a fan favorite!

Because this musical combines humor, wonderful songs, dances and scenes, the students have been working with great focus by training in voice, dance and acting. Putting on a musical is a collaborative process that requires students to work together as an ensemble, enhance their performance skills and express their creativity, as they build their confidence and become comfortable performing in front of an audience.

Thanks and Kudos to Our Interns!

Internships are wonderful hands-on learning experiences for students starting their professional journey, looking to gain additional relevant knowledge and skills in the field. Our organization is proud to support this opportunities but, on a personal level, we are also thrilled to have the chance to meet great, warm, talented individuals

Meet some of our most recent interns.
Meet Keyon Jackson, Intern from Fenway High School!
Keyon is a senior at Fenway High School. He has been a wonderful positive addition to the education team! Based on his interests and passion for music, especially music technology, Keyon assists NEMPAC teaching artist Mr. Marchese at the Eliot School for 30 hours per week in the music classroom. NEMPAC is fortunate to host a Fenway High School Intern for the 2nd year in a row and appreciates the opportunity to inspire high school students to engage and develop skills in arts education! Thank you Keyon and we wish you success for all your future endeavors.
Meet Idalis Irizarry and Sabrina Summer, Interns from Berklee College of Music!
Idalis joined us in late December 2018 as our Educational Programs Intern from Berklee College of Music . Idalis has been an incredible member of the education team! Working with Sabrina, she worked relentlessly on the Perform-a-thon raffles in addition to assisting with evaluations, administrative tasks, recital preparations, and curriculum development! Idalis is a sophomore majoring in Music Education, so we hope to see her around the neighborhood while she is still in Boston! Thank you Idalis for all your wonderful work, and good luck in the rest of your endeavors.

Sabrina joined us late December 2018 as our Administrative and Finance Intern from Berklee College of Music . Sabrina has been a great asset to NEMPAC helping out with everything from raffle collections to recital preparation to office projects. We are so lucky to have had her for these past few months and she will be greatly missed when she graduates on May 11th, 2019. All the best with your move to Nashville, TN after graduations. We only wish the best for you and your future endeavors.

April Students of the Month
Congratulations to our Class and PMI Students of the Month, Strummer Lynch and Ella Ryan!

" Strummer has been studying violin in group strings since September. She always on time, attentive in class, and has creative practice ideas. During our winter recital she had accidentally switched her violin with another student's who was not at the recital that day. Even though the violin was smaller than hers she still went up and gave a wonderful performance. Well done, Strummer! "
—Nicole Kootz, Group Strings and Violin/Viola/Piano Instructor

"Ella has been a student of mine for four years now, and it has been a joy to see her grow! This year she has been extremely dedicated to her practicing, and it is showing in her lessons and performances. We are now preparing for our spring recital, and I cannot wait to hear how everything comes together. Great job Ella!"
—Manda S. Amodio, Piano/Clarinet Instructor & Educational Programs Director
