Embroidery Camp with Belinda Harford Belinda Harford made her Sew Vac debut at our November 2017 Sew Fair. Last year, her embroidery camp was AMAZING and we promised you we'd invite her back for another round! Join Belinda and Sew Vac for 3 more fun filled days of creativity and inspiration! Tuesday, July 16th, Wednesday, July 17th & Thursday, July 18th 9:30 am - 4:00 pm Howard County Fairgrounds Dining Hall Early Bird (before May 16th) fee: $399.95 Registration (after May 16th) fee: $429.95 Reserve your spot with $100 deposit. Balance of fee due by July 1st. Registration fee includes kit with fabric, stabilizers, specialty materials, step-by-step photo instructions, and a CD with designs and templates. Lunch and snacks included. Bring your embroidery machine and all its parts, an assortment of embroidery threads and your useful embroidery supplies. Dimensional Thread Painting with Joyce Hughes Thursday, November 21st & Friday, November 22nd 10:00 am - 4:00 pm $250.00 plus supplies Beginner Want to learn Dimensional Thread Painting but you think it is too hard? I often hear, "I am not creative" and "Can my machine do this?". Yes, you are creative and Yes, you can do this on your domestic sewing machine!!!! In this class you will start with a beautiful panel to create a piece of Art! You will learn the proper steps of Dimensional Thread Painting and find it to be a fun and creative technique. Explore the various thread selections, setting up your machine for stitching techniques with free motion quilting of zig-zag and straight stitching, bobbin work, and embellishing with netting and crystals. See the fabric come to life as you sew and layer the threads on top of your design. You will use thread as paint - sew with different types of threads and color combinations. Learn how to create interesting texture and dimension to your quilting project. You will leave with a full knowledge of Dimensional Thread Painting and create a One of a Kind piece of Art! Kid's Camp

Beginner Kids Summer Sewing Camp with Caitlin O'Hare Monday, July 29th through Friday, August 2nd  1:00 pm - 4:00 pm  $349 plus supplies Beginner If you are between 8 and 12 and would like to learn to sew on a machine, this is the camp for you. You will learn all about your sewing machine and how to use it. Then you will make a puppet, hot dog pillowcase and drawstring back pack. Best of all, at the end of camp you get to take your machine home with you! Camp fee includes a Baby Lock Joy machine and project kits.

Intermediate Kids Summer Sewing Camp with Caitlin O'Hare Monday, August 5th through Friday, August 9th 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm $349 plus supplies Advanced Beginner Are you looking to learn more about your machine and sewing? This camp is for kids 10 and up who have some sewing experience and have used a sewing machine. You will make a strawberry pincushion, donut pillow and a Potato Chip Bag. Camp fee includes a Baby Lock Joy machine and project kits.

Intro to English Paper Piecing with Margaret Cureton and Caitlin O'Hare Tuesday, May 28th 10:30 am - 12:30 pm $20 plus supplies Beginner English Paper Piecing is taking the quilting world by storm, and Margaret and Caitlin are here to show you how it's done! Join them as they teach an introduction to this traditional hand quilting approach. Class will feature both an overview of English Paper Piecing tools, techniques, and applications, as well as how to make a Grandma's Garden pincushion. Crack into you scrap pile and join us in learning all about this meditative (and addictive!) technique.

Camp Shirt with Pattie Otto Thursday, May 30th 10:30 am - 4:30 pm $60 plus supplies Intermediate A relaxed fit camp shirt is a must have for every wardrobe. The drop shoulder and turn back collar lend themselves to unlimited possibilities, be it a blouse, comfortable short sleeve jacket, swimsuit cover, etc. The fabric options are also limitless, from pretty cotton prints to luscious batiks to light and airy rayons, you will want to make more than one. Class begins with accurate measurements and try-on samples to help you determine your pattern size. Pattie will assist in any fitting issues you might have and show you how to alter the pattern. Class also includes cutting and construction assistance as well as interfacing tips while you create your shirt.

Sedona Skirt with Pattie Otto Friday, June 14th 10:30 am - 5:00 pm  $60 plus supplies Intermediate Create a fabulous fun and flirty skirt that's perfect for any occasion. The Sedona Skirt is a unique five panel skirt with a full lower yoke, elastic waist and asymmetrical hem. This pattern is sized XX-Small to XXX-Large (waist 20-42 and hips 30-53). You can make your skirt long or short from rayon or cotton batik. Pattie will have all sizes of try-on skirts available to help you select the correct size and length. She will also show you how to easily cut and handle lightweight fabrics, stabilize bias edges and share tips for sewing elastic waistbands.

Beginning Sewing with Pattie Otto Saturday, June 21st 10:30 am - 4:00 pm  $65(includes kit) plus supplies Beginner Are you new to sewing or looking for a refresher? This class will introduce you to the inspiring world of sewing while you create a versatile Ten Pocket Tote. Class will begin by familiarizing you with the basics of your sewing machine as you learn the mechanics, practice threading, how to wind a bobbin and use seam guides to sew simple seams. After you have selected your fabrics, you will then proceed to cut out your tote using both patterns and rulers. Sewing techniques will include simple seams and hems, seam finishes, top stitching and tips for accurate sewing. Pattie will also demonstrate quick seam finishes, handle variations, easy embellishments and optional closures. Class fee includes fabric and thread.

Edge-to-Edge Quilting on your Embroidery Machine with Terri Miller Saturday, June 22nd 10:30 am - 2:30 pm  $40 plus supplies Confident Beginner Join Terri as she walks you through Amelie Scott Designs’ Edge-to-Edge Quilting in the hoop. Learn how to determine what size design to use, plan where to start quilting, make templates, and use the “Easy-Connect Quilting” technique to quilt.

Serger Classes

Knits for the Absolutely Terrified with Pattie Otto Friday, May 31st 10:30 am - 12:30 pm  $20 Beginner Racks are filled with them, as are your closets and drawers. Knits are everywhere, so why aren't you sewing with them? Are you a little hesitant? Are your palms a bit sweaty? Admit it. You're terrified of sewing with knits. Put these fears to rest with this fun and exciting class. Included will be advice on how to select the right knit for your tees, tanks, cardigans, pullover and more as well as layout and cutting pointers and super quick construction tips for professional results every time. Pattie will also share her tip for handling the new ITY and other curly knits. You'll be amazed at how easy knits really are to sew. This is a lecture class.

Knits Serger Techniques with Pattie Otto Friday, May 31st 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm $30 plus supplies and $15 kit fee payable to Pattie the day of class All Levels Master the four basic techniques needed to serge knits: seaming, neckbands, hems and applying elastic. This hands on class covers basic seaming on a variety of knit types and where and when to use stabilizers and top stitching. Practice four different neckband techniques including how and when to use the Knit Binder. Several hemming options will also be covered including cover stitch basics on a variety of knit fabrics. Simple elastic waistbands for pull-on pants will be explored as well as a professional cover stitch option. You will complete multiple samples with detailed class worksheets that you can apply when making knit garments. The kit includes Knits for the Absolutely booklet, worksheets, and fabric for samples. . ‌ ‌

Summer Tee with Pattie Otto  Monday, June 17th  10:30 am - 4:00 pm  $50 plus supplies Beginner You'll want to fill your closet with these classic and comfy summer tees. Join Pattie as she shows you how to select the right fabric, fitting techniques and quick serging methods. Class will use Great Copy #2550 Savannah Tee which is sized ladies X-Small to 3X and has petite, average and tall sizing. Try-ons will be available to aid you in selecting the correct size. Pattie will aid through the layout, cutting and construction for the perfect summer tee.

Quilting Classes

Beginning Quilting with Pat Brousil Tuesday, June 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th 10:30 am - 12:30 pm  $80 plus supplies Beginner Pat's 30 years experience of teaching quilting will give you the confidence and knowledge to make beautiful quilts. You will learn all of the basics you need to make your first quilt.

Patchwork Apple Table Topper with Lucile Gordon Thursday, June 6th   1:00 pm - 4:00 pm $30 plus supplies Beginner The new Shabby Fabrics Patchwork Apple Table Runner pattern combines simple piecing with applique to create a cute table runner. In this class, Lucile will show you a strip piecing method for creating the fabric for the Patchwork Apple and how to cut out and applique your apple to the background fabric.
