Habitat partners with Hearts & Hammers
Habitat for Humanity of Island County partnered with Hearts & Hammers on May 4th to build a landing porch and ramp for a North Oak Harbor homeowner in need. Habitat was able to build new steps and a ramp so the homeowner can access her home safely. None of this would have been possible without the help of our awesome volunteers!
Thank you Oak Harbor Walmart

On May 21st, Habitat for Humanity of Island County received $3000 from Walmart. We would like to thank Walmart Foundation for their generous donation and the staff & management of Walmart - Oak Harbor for their participation in this year's Women Build event. We hope to see you all again next year!

Meet our Homebuyer
The Gann Family
"Hello, we are the Gann family. We are a family of four including Dru, the dad, Alli, the mom, and our two small children, Mathias and Malachi. We are originally from California, we packed up everything we had and moved to Whidbey Island 2 years ago to be near our family. After starting from scratch Dru, has found a job as a postal clerk at the Coupeville Post Office. While Alli stays home with our boys.

Getting selected by Habitat for Humanity of Island County has been a true blessing for our family. It has been a dream of ours to be able to raise our children in Coupeville, which seemed quite unobtainable until a very short time ago. The opportunity to not only live, but to actually own our own home in a safe and secure location is an answer to our praye rs."
The O-Zone
Happy Spring everyone!

Great news for our future families at the south end of Whidbey Island. The City of Langley city council adopted the new comprehensive plan and approved a rezone which affected our property. We now have the green light to build multi-family housing there. This means we can service more families. I look forward to building there by this time next year.

There is also a national campaign being launched on June 12, 2019. We will be engaging with staff and volunteers to ask for your support to help Habitat for Humanity educate the community about the need for affordable housing. Making housing affordable for families that are currently paying more than 30% of their income can help build a stronger community. If you want more information on this campaign please feel free to reach out to me or Tony Persson who is currently heading this campaign.

Thank you all for the work that you do.
