Meeting Highlight: Waverly PD
Officer West has been with the Waverly Police Department for 27 years (Patrolman & Narcotics Investigator). The police department there is seeing an explosion of narcotics in the area as well as an influx from Pennsylvania. Officer West stated Waverly has a minimum of 50 drug houses. “Drug Houses” are places drugs are sold out of or used in. The population of Waverly is approximately 5,000 people. Most of the drugs are coming from Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and Scranton. The department is also seeing in influx on Fentanyl. One drug bust recently yielded 3 pounds of Meth, $ 52,000 of cash in the home with an additional $ 25,000 in a safe deposit box.
Workgroup Reports

Parent surveys are being finalized and the group will need all hands on deck to help distribute and collect as many surveys as possible beginning in the fall. The data group also is looking for coalition members who are willing to conduct Key Informant interviews, the questions are already prepped and the interviews take about 60-90 minutes...

TEAM Youth
Project Sticker Shock was a huge success this year and engaged a total of 17 youth who placed 1,250 stickers in 5 stores throughout the county! This campaign continues to grow! Shout out to Jenna Layton for her awesome job with youth and community engagement!

Family Fun Day!
TEAM Youth has partnered with he VFW to boost our community collaboration and be a part of something even bigger! The group passed around a volunteer sheet and will update the volunteer needs again at the June meeting. Please consider volunteering to help make this great event a success for the 3rd year in a row!

Opioid Workgroup
The Waverly Grandfamilies event had a wonderful variety of resources available for Waverly families. There were a lot of great conversations and connections made as a result of this event. The Healing Journey documentary showing was a tremendous success, 32 people came to hear Tioga County stories of those affected by substance use. Many people stayed after for the Narcan training, thanks Tioga County Public Health and Kylie!!
