May 2019 ~ Issue 27
Dear Evergreen Elementary Families,

We are winding down the 2018-2019 school year with only 19 school days to go! We have a lot of exciting events planned for the month of May.

Appreciation Weeks

May 6-10 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Let's honor our outstanding teachers for all of their hard work. Here is an outline of ways your child can appreciate their teacher:
Monday, May 6th - Homemade Card
Tuesday, May 7th - Smiles
Wednesday, May 8th - School Supplies
Thursday, May 9th - Flowers
Friday, May 10th - Compliments

We will honor our outstanding paraprofessionals/aides during Classified Appreciation Week on May 20-24.

Paint Night Dine and Donate

Join us in an evening of painting, food, and fun for our first Parents Night Out Dine and Donate! This event will be held at Sally Tomatoes on Wednesday, May 22nd from 6-7:30pm. Our school PTA gets $15 of every ticket purchased donated back to us. We need to sell 25 tickets 2 weeks before the paint night in order to keep our date so purchase your tickets as soon as possible. Invite your friends and family to join you. This is an adult only event and no childcare will be provided. We hope to see you there! Click on the link below to purchase your ticket.
Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found is overflowing! Please stop by the Lost and Found rack outside the MU and check for lost items. All unclaimed items will be donated after the last day of school.
End of the Year Carnival

We hope that all of our Bobcat families can join us for the End of the Year Carnival on Tuesday, May 28th from 6-7:30pm. We need volunteers to make this event happen, so please sign up at the link below. Volunteer time slots will be short so you can enjoy the Carnival with your kids!
Volunteer Needed

Do your kids like earning Walk and Roll to School/Green Sneaker Challenge prizes? We are looking for a parent to be our coordinator for the 2019-2020 school year. This is a volunteer opportunity that doesn't take much time, but has a big impact on all of our students! It has been done on Fridays this year, but we can be flexible on the day depending on the parent volunteer's availability. If you are interested, please email Mrs. Hansen at jennifer_hansen@crpusd.org.
Online Safety

With Summer on it's way, students may spend more time on devices. Here is the " Parents’ Ultimate Guide to Smart Devices". If you have questions about digital citizenship or your child's safety online, please email our Assistant Principal Ms. Juhola at macy_juhola@crpusd.org.

PTA Corner

Happy May Team Evergreen! We have finally approached the end of the school year and are preparing for the summer ahead.

Our last Family Fun Night, the Glow Dance Party, was an great success and we are getting ready for our amazing End of the Year Carnival. The carnival is a wonderful event to cap off the year and hope everyone can come and enjoy all the games, food and fun. We would love to have help to work at the carnival in any shift or position. Here is the link to sign up to volunteer:

It’s never too early to ask for donations or sponsorships for next year's Walk-A-Thon. We will be distributing sponsorship forms before the end of the year so our students can start getting those sponsorships over the summer!

I would like to thank the 2018-2019 PTA Board for all of their support. Denise Miller did so much work for our school as Walk-A-Thon chair / Vice President. Thank you to Mike Ahern for serving as our Secretary, and Crystal Chang for keeping our finances organized as Treasurer. Thank you also to Kiersten Hill for supporting us as Parliamentarian, Tracy Uwins for organizing all of our Family Fun Nights, and Meghan Heald for serving as Teacher Representative.

I am so grateful and proud to have been your President this year and know that Mike Ahern will do a great job next year.

Sincerely,

Erin Ballard,
Evergreen PTA President
Restorative Practices Family Corner
As we continue our journey with Restorative Practices, we thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated "Family Corner" section in the Evergreen Express. In this section, we will post a "Question/Topic of the Month" to inspire restorative conversations with your families. A great place to have restorative conversations is around the dinner table.

May Question of the Month: "Name two things or people who always make you laugh ."

Good luck!
