Rescuing Golden Retrievers & Golden Retriever Mixes Since 2003

MAY 2020

A Message from the President and Founder, Lauren Genkinger

I do hope you and all your loved ones are safe and well in these days of the pandemic and stay at home orders.  Our goldens are the only ones that are so happy to be home with you!!  We have had a great deal of unforeseen medical bills for our last group of Turkey dogs and dogs we've received from shelters.  Thankfully, we are not seeing a rise of goldens being turned in - those who are tend to be seniors and have medical needs which we must attend to.   I want to thank you all for your continued financial support.

Please note, we have postponed our adoption days due to social distancing, but we are doing adoptions!!!  We must be careful with all meetings; to keep everyone safe we require everyone to wear protective masks and gloves and we can set up virtual meetings ahead of time.  Just contact us and tell us who you want to meet and possibly adopt.  We will handle what we can over the phone or in video before the actual meeting so it can be short and successful.

With great appreciation,

VIRTUAL MEET & MATCH

We want to continue to find new homes for our
orphans during this pandemic, so we'll be setting
up virtual meetings for any approved applicants if
you feel uncomfortable meeting in person.

Please don't email if you haven't been
approved yet.  If you have been approved
and are interested in a virtual meeting,
please email [email protected]
and we will forward it to the right person.

We are planning on resuming our Meet & Match (FKA Adoption Day)
on June 7th, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at:

5556 Chamblee Dunwoody Road - Dunwoody, GA  30338

Please consider Adopt a Golden Atlanta as your charity to give on  GivingTuesdayNow .
Your year-end tax deductible gift will help AGA save more homeless Golden Retrievers in 2020.

We are grateful to you for allowing us to save over 4,000 Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever
mixes since 2003. Without you, these deserving orphaned dogs would not have a second chance at life.

From all of us with AGA, we thank you!

MUFASA'S INSPIRATIONAL TRANSFORMATION

Hi everyone, I'm Mufasa - bet you can't guess why the shelter named me that!  As you can see by my pictures, I have quite a serious skin condition on my face, legs and belly.  When AGA took me in, I went to the vets office where they said they're going to make me all better.  Then they told me that I have
a foster mom who is coming to pick me up and she's going to let me live in her house and she's going to
take care of me with all my medicine and my baths!! I mean, how lucky am I?  I thought I'd share with
you my progress since I've come in.  I think when I'm all done with my meds I'm going to be a very
handsome boy!

This was my first day with AGA at the vets office.  You can see how bad my
skin infection was and I wasn't very happy because I didn't know what was happening!

Here I am at my foster mom's house.  She's been training me to do things and says I'm
a pretty good learner.  She also spoils me some (that's my favorite purple toy), and
I love it!  As you can see, I'm already starting to get my hair to grow back!

Oh yes, I'm happy - I mean look at me!!  I'm getting handsomer and handsomer
every day!  I can't wait to show you my beautiful self when all my hair is grown
back.  I can't thank AGA enough and all you wonderful people who donate.  If it wasn't
for you, I don't know where I'd be today!

WE'RE OPENING OUR HEARTS TO A FIRST RESPONDER

This handsome Goldendoodle is Remy. Remy is 6 months old and although he looks healthy,
he his new family found out that he has hip dysplasia.  Remy's new dad reached out to us because after getting this diagnosis, they realized the cost of the surgery was more than they could handle.  Remy's dad is a police officer (first responder) and his mom has her own small business that caters to the public (except right now there is no public & therefore no business).  They reached out to AGA to turn Remy in knowing they just couldn't afford his medical bills.  AGA received a call the next day and was told that they were postponing turning Remy over to us -
they were having a very hard time letting him go.  All they wanted was the best for him but
letting him go was really too much of a struggle.

Although we are a rescue, there's nothing better than a loving family being able to keep their
dog.  After conversations with Remy's family and realizing how much they love him, we have
decided to help them raise the money for Remy's surgery. A GoFundMe page has been set up
for Remy where you can read his detailed story.  I know Remy's family would appreciate any
and all help they can get.
