May Your Light Shine Bright
At Maywood Fine Arts we make sure to shine a light on all the good and stand in solidarity against evil. We look to our young people to help mold the world into a better place for everyone, including you! May was filled with both highs and lows which we share with you in our monthly newsletter.
Graduating Seniors
Under normal circumstances our graduating seniors would get to take the stage and final bow as graduates in our June Dance Show. Since this was not the case this year we wanted to highlight these magnificent students. Each one has grown exponentially as a wonderful human being and they deserve a bit of praise. So please give them a standing ovation because they are the future !

Losing an Alumnus
On May 25th, the world lost a wonderful person. Marlon (Poody) Outlaw gave joy to those who knew him. He danced, and tumbled at Maywood Fine Arts for many years. As an Alumnus, he came back, and gave back! He performed with his friends in the Alumni shows and helped his childhood home away from home when they needed it the most. He was a great father and an even better Dance/Tumbling Dad who brought his children to Maywood Fine Arts. He will be truly missed.
Services are being held Friday June 12th at Wallace Funeral Home.

Le Tour de Shore 2021
One of the biggest, best, and most fun MFA fundraisers was cancelled for 2020. Le Tour de Shore is now looking to June 2021 when all of the riders can come together again and ride for Maywood Fine Arts. On the bright side, this gave Lois Baumann another year to train for the 100 mile adventure.

Chicago Tap Summit
Three scholarships were handed out and all three tappers came from Maywood Fine Arts!

Congratulations Nathaniel, Myles & Isis on earning scholarships to the Chicago Tap Summit!

Thank You Madd Rhythms Tap Academy!

Over 10,000 Views!
In May, many of our families, friends and supporters came together virtually and created an uplifting video that was watched 10,000 times and counting. Everyone learned a dance number to the song "All in this Together" then recorded themselves performing. Watch it for yourself and witness the magic!

Memorial Day Parade
On Memorial Day Lois Baumann, Heidi Renteria and family commemorated the lives of the men and women who died while in the military service by having an impromptu parade through the streets of Maywood.
Maywood Fine Arts Summer Classes
Summer classes will begin on June 15th! We are so excited to get back into the classroom but we have had to make some changes. Due to the limited number of students we can have in a classroom, Dance and Tumbling classes will be limited to returning students only. One on one music classes will be open to everyone. You will be able to enroll in classes online at maywoodfinearts.org and we will still be offering free classes via Zoom.

Census 2020 at Maywood Fine Arts
Proviso Census 2020 will be having a drive up Census event Saturday June 6th from 12pm to 2pm at Maywood Fine Arts . Fill out your Census, Grab your FREE Produce and FREE Mask and Gloves. Taking part in the Census helps the community. It helps get funding to the places that need it the most. Maywood is one of those places and as of May 11, less than 60% of Maywood has taken part. We are thankful for the efforts of people like State Senator Kimberly Lightford and Maywood Trustee Nathaniel Booker for helping to make sure we are counted. Drive up and wave to your favorite dance teacher! Even if you have filled out your census you can still get free produce, masks, and gloves.
Thank you for supporting Maywood Fine Arts!
