Spring Plant and Garden Sale Coming Soon!
|
|
Calling all gardeners! When you're out in your garden dividing plants this spring, why not pot some up for Sturgis Library's annual Plant and Garden Sale?
We will accept annuals, perennials, seedlings, shrubs, herbs, container gardens, houseplants, new or gently used tools, terra cotta or pottery pots in good condition, garden decor, birdfeeders or birdhouses, newer gardening books, and more!
When you pot your plants, please label them (popsicle sticks work great) indicating the variety, if it requires sun/shade, and height and habit if known. Also please indicate the color.
The Plant and Garden Sale will begin the last week of May, and will be ongoing through early June. Please bring your donated items to the Library starting Monday, May 24th. Staff will let you know where to drop the items off . Please call us at 508-362-6636 or email sturgislibrary@comcast.net if you have any questions.
And thank you!

Research Room and Historic Section Reopened
|
|
The historic section of Sturgis Library, which houses our research collection, is now open by appointment for researchers and visitors (or for walk-in visits if no one else is scheduled).
Researchers may reserve an hour of time at present -- we hope to expand this time limitation in the months ahead. Our research collection and archives feature materials on Cape Cod & Massachusetts history, genealogy, and the maritime trades.
In addition to research, visitors can take a self-guided tour of the historic Hooper, Kittredge, and Lothrop Rooms, learn more about the Library's history, and view portraits, artifacts, and other items related to Rev. John Lothrop, the Sturgis family, and the history of the Library and the Town of Barnstable.
To reserve a time to visit, please call the Library at 508-362-6636 or email us at sturgislibrary@comcast.net.

Now that vaccinations are available to everyone 16 and up, it is tempting to think that you can go without your face mask or face covering in public spaces. However, masks are still required inside Sturgis Library, and should cover both your mouth and nose.
Starting April 30th, masks are no longer required outdoors as long as you are able to socially distance.

Find our seed library located next to our vestibule doorway. Due to seed shortages, we have a limited selection this year and ask families/households to LIMIT their choices to THREE packets or less. We are always taking donations though, so if you have any seeds you saved from last year that you don't plan on using, please consider making a donation :)
