2021 Disability Access Conference via ZOOM
May 27, 2021 & May 28, 2021
8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

The 2021 Disability Access Conference via ZOOM is just around the corner. It's not to late to register for the two-day conference to be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 and Friday, May 28, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (both days).

We are honored to present two speakers from the U.S. Access Board, William Botten and Juliet Shoultz. The following four sessions will be presented:

  • Accessible Sidewalks, Shared Use Paths, and Street Crossings
  • Accessible Transportation Facilities
  • Accessible Recreation Facilities
  • Accessible Assembly Areas

DCAB's main phone line 586-8121 has not changed, but the 586-8104 secondary phone line will be no longer in use starting May 2, 2021.

Can't Find Your
Final Document Review Letter?
  1. Once all the deficiencies are addressed, you will receive a final email which will include a web link connecting you to DCAB's website.
  2. If you are unable to locate the final document review letter, log into the Facility Access Plan Submission and Review System using your eHawaii.go account credentials.
  3. On the main plan submission page, click the "My Submissions" icon and click on the "view" button for the appropriate project.
  4. Locate your project and select "User Attachments" which contains the final document review letter.

Staff Return to the Office on June 1st
Visitor Protocol Reminders

DCAB staff will return to the office on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

To ensure everyone is healthy and safe, we will continue to adhere to the visitor protocols. If you plan to drop off or visit the office, please observe the following protocols:

  • Masks are required upon entry into the Kamamalu Building.
  • Appointments are encouraged.
  • Sign in with security in the lobby before entering our office.
  • For walk in assistance, sign in on DCAB's visitor log sheet.
  • Temperatures will be taken upon arrival into our office. (For the safety of others, any person with a temperature of 100.4°or higher will not be allowed to remain in the office.)
  • Be seated in the waiting area located in the lobby for further assistance.
  • Social distancing of 6 feet between one another.
  • Visitor Protocols are subject to change as we monitor the COVID-19 pandemic.

General Exceptions
Employee Work Areas 203.9
203.9 Employee Work Areas
Spaces and elements within employee work areas shall only be required to comply with 206.2.8207.1, and 215.3 and shall be designed and constructed so that individuals with disabilities can approach, enter, and exit the employee work area. Employee work areas, or portions of employee work areas, other than raised courtroom stations, that are less than 300 square feet (28 m2) and elevated 7 inches (180 mm) or more above the finish floor or ground where the elevation is essential to the function of the space shall not be required to comply with these requirements or to be on an accessible route.
