IP PARTNERSHIPS - An ASID Designer's "Sure Thing"

IP Partnerships….an ASID designer’s “sure thing”
Our world today doesn’t have many sure things.
There are delays, backorders, a lack of communication because people are exhausted, short tempers, short supply…
Where may a designer turn to get his/her work done? To learn about the latest and greatest so that they remain a valuable resource? To give more depth and richness to the experience overall?
I have found that professional haven in my ASID IP’s.
Knowing that a vendor or manufacturer is an ASID Industry Partner instantly tells me that they care as much about the end game as I do. So I know that they will have more of an understanding of the need for transparency, collaboration and service in pursuit of client project perfection.
When I first became an Allied ASID member, it was PBK that first reached out and offered to collaborate with me on projects. Jordan Tatosian was quick to respond to questions I asked, ready to host ASID designers for workshops on the latest technology and immediately supportive of special project opportunities. Although over an hour and a half away from my office, visiting PBK was a worthwhile trip to take. The investment of the drive time was always rewarded by the incredible service and depth of knowledge I knew was waiting for me.
An example of a project where Jordan’s knowledge served my client and me well is the project for which I just won the 2020 ANDYZ Award.
I made the trip and described the client and her tastes to Jordan. I showed him the tub she’d had her eye on for over 2 years. He and I walked the showroom and put together a glorious package: a dream tub and tub filler, a luxury shower package, double sinks and faucets with crystal detail and a bidet toilet to beat all bidet toilets.
|
Through the project, Jordan and his team were ready to deliver over 2 hours away with just a few days notice: a rough-in delivery and trims delivery. They answered my contractor’s questions quickly and thoroughly and they made every interaction enjoyable.
|
Not only could I count on Jordan for projects, I found PBK to be a terrific resource for CEU learning to maintain my eligibility status for ASID. Topics covered business practices, new technologies, steam showers, green standards, etc. There was always ample time for visiting and knowledge share with other designers over delicious food. It felt like a mini vacation...seeing friends, relaxing over a great meal and learning something new that elevated my ability to give an enhanced experience to my clients.
When I became ASID Chapter President, Jordan and PBK backed my first ever SF Design Conference by providing transportation for Sacramento area designers to the SF Showcase and all around San Francisco for the expanded design opportunities I’d planned for the group. He provided a delicious breakfast for the designers before leaving PBK, and stocked the tour bus with refreshments and treats for the long drive. We all really enjoyed sharing our finds and pointing out all the things we loved in the Showcase to Jordan for projects we were planning for clients, and he followed up with each of us about product and pricing later that week.

|
I have experienced similar support from Wendover Art with Marcy Grubbs, and at Cosentino with Genise Plessas as well as many others. I suppose that being an ASID Industry Partner tells me, without saying a word, that the company loves design as much as I do, that they are willing to stand behind their product and jump through hoops if necessary to make things happen when my reputation is on the line. They’re a safe space in a sea of uncertainty and I cannot tell you what that means to me.
Thank you, all ASID IP’s, for standing up for outstanding products and for delivering outstanding service. It really means everything.
