Indoor Worship Returns
Christ Church is once again open to indoor worship at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Sundays. Masks and social distancing are required. If you do not feel comfortable joining us, the live stream of the 10:00 a.m. service will continue to be posted on our You Tube channel! You can watch it in real time or at your convenience. Mother's Day Breakfast
Celebrate Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9th, 8:45 - 9:30 a.m. with a breakfast on the patio!

Meals and beverages will be passed through the kitchen window. No indoor dining allowed at this time.

Christian Education
Sunday School
Christian education for children preschool - 6th grade will take place on the church patio and playground, beginning at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays during May. Contact Susie Mittelstadt, [email protected], with questions.

Journey Youth Group
Students in grades 7 - 12 are invited to meet with the Reverend Randy Parks on Sundays at 9:00 a.m., with the exception of May 23rd. Contact Randy Parks at [email protected] with questions.

Adult Christian Education
A discussion led by the Reverend Canon Robert Griner will take place in Holley Hall on Sundays beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Masks and social distancing are required for all those participating in Christian Education in accordance with New Jersey Department of Health guidelines.
Virtual Bible Study
Bible Study will continue to be offered via Zoom on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. To participate, log on here or contact the Reverend Canon Robert Griner at [email protected] for more information.

Christ Church Women
The Christ Church Women's group will meet virtually via Zoom on Monday, May 3rd, at 1:00 p.m.

The group will meet outdoors in person, Thursday, May 20th, 11:30 a.m., weather permitting.

Beginning in June, the CCW will have one monthly meeting on the third Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m.

Alternative dates and times for quarterly meetings to allow those who are unable to attend the monthly gatherings are being discussed. To offer a suggestion, or to volunteer to coordinate an activity, contact Diana Greene at [email protected].
Invitation from Mount Calvary Baptist Church
Our friends at Mount Calvary Baptist Church are having a women's conference Saturday, May 15th, 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 16th, 11:00 a.m., at their church, 77 Merriam Avenue, Newton. Women from Christ Church Newton have been warmly invited to attend. Email your acceptance to [email protected].
Christ Church Blanketeers
The Christ Church Blanketeers will meet on the church patio, Saturday, May 8th, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Masks and social distancing required.

Christ Church welcomes anyone who enjoys crocheting, knitting, and sewing, at any level, to join the Blanketeers. Our mission is to provide support and comfort to those in need, within our parish as well as to local organizations, through the gifts of prayer shawls, blankets, scarves and hats. Sunday Servers & Brunch in a Bag Volunteers
Those who have volunteered to provide flowers, support the Sanctuary, serve as Lectors, Ushers, Acolytes, Crucifers or on the Altar Guild, or assist with the Sunday Brunch in a Bag program can check their schedule on the Christ Church website. Please note that changes may continue to be made to accommodate public health guidelines.
Manna House Volunteers
Christ Church provides volunteers to Manna House at the First Presbyterian Church of Newton on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The next volunteer opportunity is May 26th. Those interested in volunteering are invited to call Laura Booker, 973-384-7635. At this time, meals are distributed at the door with limited volunteers due to public health guidelines.
Altar Guild
Parishioners are encouraged to contribute toward the purchase of the flowers on the altar in order to commemorate a special occasion or loved one; Sanctuary Lights or Candles, $20; Altar Flowers, $50. Contact Alex Zander at [email protected] or contact the church office to offer flowers, join the new floral display group or make a monetary donation.

  • All of the singers and musicians who performed virtually or in church while the church was closed to in-person worship, including all those who assisted with Lessons & Carols;

  • Dusty Terwilliger for his creativity and vision in the production of the Maundy Thursday, Christmas pageant, and First Sunday of Lent videos;
  • The children who performed on camera during the virtual Christmas pageant;
  • Our church couch potatoes who bravely "confessed" their past sins and dished about their ill-advised activities as part of the You Tube series, "Confessions to the Canon";
  • Geri Livengood and Alex Zander for the glorious floral displays which grace our altar each week;
  • Diana Greene for facilitating the frequent CCW meetings and for coordinating the Mini-Retreat;
  • The Reverend Canon Robert Griner and Jamie La Couture, along with Pastor Navella George and the members of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, for facilitating the "Crossing the Divide" series on racism during Lent;
  • Lisa Pachnos for producing the virtual services and "Confessions to the Canon" series.
