Hello

As the saying goes “April showers bring May flowers…” and this spring is no different. There are a lot of May projects blooming here in Frederick. This issue of Business eNews is focused on current efforts and trends in arts, entertainment, sports, and tourism, as well as development projects along the Golden Mile. Frederick Keys MLB Draft League kicks off a summer of great family baseball next week with 34 home games. Longtime Frederick Keys General Manager David Ziedelis has taken over as Executive Director of Visit Frederick as Frederick’s hospitality industry begins to recover from the impact of the COVID19 Pandemic. The City and Downtown Partnership are continuing to explore ways to improve streetscape in Downtown for residents, businesses, and visitors. The three month study will conclude in June with the issuance of a report and recommendations for both short and long term improvements.

As Frederick moves toward full recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic, Frederick has received several million dollars in federal grants, including awards from the American Recovery Act for recovery projects and programs, from the FAA for airport runway/taxiway expansion, and from the EPA for brownfield assessment along Carroll Creek Park and Frederick’s East Side. Information on these efforts can be found on the City’s website at www.cityoffrederickmd.gov. Stay tuned each month for updates on these and other key economic development efforts.
