Spring is a time of renewal…
Board renewal – As we prepare for the transition to the 2021-22 program year, we really appreciate the refreshing new insights and energy that new board and committee members bring to our long-time leaders. Of course, I don’t know of a single AAUW board that wouldn’t appreciate more new help – and I feel every member should contribute to keeping AAUW going.
So, whether you’re asking someone if they would take a job, or you’re the one being asked,
please put your negotiating skills to good use – let’s ask each other, “If not this, then …,” “Yes, but only if…,” “No, but I’d rather…” Thank you AAUW leaders - we look forward to welcoming new leaders and invigorating those who continue to serve at our Leadership Transition Workshop, June 5, where we will ask, “How can we support each other to get the job done?”
Membership renewal – Yes, the AAUW National dues have gone up slightly, but really, this is the very least that a member can contribute to keep AAUW going. While the National board is all volunteer, an organization this big needs a paid staff and pays for services, to support branches and programs (see below). Adding a donation to AAUW Funds, in addition to your
dues, shows your re-commitment to the AAUW mission.
Lastly, our National Election voting deadline is May 17th. Please help AAUW NJ be a leader in equity by voting to open our membership to all!
Let’s renew our energy by continuing
to collaborate across the state,
Karen Brown, president

Why Do You Donate to
AAUW?
This month I interviewed a Sussex County AAUW member of over forty years who regularly donates to the Greatest Needs Fund. She was active in the Women’s Movement at an early age supporting issues, such as women’s education, workplace and economic equity, and sexual and gay rights. She supported Title IX legislation and recognized that AAUW was at the forefront of the fight to advance gender equity for women and girls, so she proudly joined our organization. She strongly believes that women, especially those who are newly embarking on their careers, should be supported in every way possible. It was wonderful listening to her speak about her commitment to AAUW and her dedication to issues that are of such importance to women. If you have strong feelings about helping women achieve their optimum potential, maybe you would consider donating to the Greatest Needs Fund of AAUW. It’s so easy to do! Just go to https://ww2.aauw.org/donate-gift-new/
Every gift to AAUW has an impact-but your dollars go furthest when they support funds critical to our mission. By giving to the AAUW Greatest Needs Fund or our strategic focus areas, you can make that vision a reality.
If you would like to share the story of why you donate, please send us an email at [email protected].
