Hello fellow Chamber members! I hope that the warmer weather that we have started to see has brightened your days and allowed you to get out and enjoy the unseasonably warm weather! I know that I have been loving the opportunity to be outside with my dogs and my family.
While we still see restrictions and limitations caused by the current health crisis, we are starting to see more and more hope in a return to normalcy. A small return to normalcy is just around the corner, as we will be hosting our annual Golf Outing on July 13, 2021 at the beautiful Seven Bridges Golf Club. A huge thank you to Molex, LLC for being the Presenting Sponsor for this event. This will be one of our only opportunities to raise funds for the Chamber's Scholarship Fund this year since the pandemic is still limiting events. We hope to see all of you on the course and look forward to providing local youth with scholarships as we have in years past.
As always, Jill, Claudine, the Executive Board and Board of Directors are working to make sure that the Chamber stays financially responsible and relevant throughout these times. We hope that we are making you, our members, proud with the work we have done and the work that is yet to come.
As always, I encourage all members to reach out to Jill, Claudine or myself with any questions, comments, concerns or ideas. We are available to all members and look forward to speaking with you.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MESSAGE
Jill Eidukas, Executive Director
In April, I virtually attended the 11th Annual DuPage County Regional Business Outlook hosted by Choose DuPage. Rick Bayless, Chef and Owner of Frontera Grill delivered the Keynote Address. The hybrid event was presented via livestream and with limited in-person attendees. As I watched his presentation on how the pandemic made him re-evaluate his restaurant business, I thought how the pandemic affected even the most successful businesses. Chef Bayless spoke about how his restaurant was about the experience of the food, the artwork, the music and the personal touch. Since his restaurants are about the whole experience, he said he has never offered take-out or delivery. When the pandemic began, he wondered how he would adjust his business. These challenging times have made even the most successful businesses re-think how they do business. Chef Bayless adjusted by offering take-out and delivery. With a take-out and delivery order, he would include personal notes on how to prepare the food at home and also included a music playlist to create the ambiance of his restaurant in your own home. Although this took a lot of time, Chef Bayless felt this was important for his brand. I believe that if we listen, learn and share ideas, our businesses can help each other grow our own brands. Yes, we had a stall in 2020, but I believe together in 2021 and beyond, we will be stronger and more knowledgeable.
Vaccines are being administrated at a much faster rate than I ever imagined possible. Our in-person events are starting to comeback. Our LINCT group will have their first in-person meeting in a year, Ribbon Cuttings are starting to be scheduled and we have our Annual Golf Outing on July 13th at Seven Bridges Golf Club. Information on these events and virtual and in-person meetings will be sent out in our monthly newsletters and e-blasts. Visit our Chamber events section on our website to keep up-to-date on all our upcoming events. I look forward to seeing you in person once again.

Expanded Outdoor Dining in Lisle is Back
Just in time for warmer temperatures, the Village of Lisle is continuing its expanded outdoor dining program this year. Lisle’s COVID-19 Outdoor Eating and Drinking Relief Program increases options for restaurants and bars to operate outdoor seating options adjacent to their businesses.
The Program’s goal is to allow for greater social distancing and safety for bar and restaurant-goers and employees with guidance from public health experts and the Restore Illinois Plan. The Village is temporarily allowing businesses to expand existing patio space or establish new patio areas, potentially including parking lots, sidewalks, street parking spaces, to develop outdoor operating areas.
Please take the opportunity to visit the restaurants and bars throughout Lisle, enjoy a variety of delectable meal offerings alfresco, and show your support of our hospitality businesses!

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Sonny Smith
Volunteers 4 Lisle
This month's featured Ambassador is Sonny Smith. Sonny has been affiliated with the Lisle Area Chamber for over twelve years. He has been involved with the Ambassador Committee for about the same length of time. In addition to the Ambassador Committee, Sonny is on the Government Affairs Committee. He has also served on the Chamber's Board of Directors. While he was on the Board of Directors, he was the Board Treasurer. Sonny has also been involved with the Dinner Dance and Golf Committees.
Sonny is a retired professor from College of DuPage. He was a professor in the Business and Technology Division for 26 years. Sonny volunteers his time with Volunteers 4 Lisle with the Lisle Police Department. The volunteers help the Lisle Police Department with traffic control, Emergency Management and a variety of events held in Lisle. He has been with them for six years. While with the Volunteers 4 Lisle, he won the Presidential Volunteers Award.
Sonny lives in Lisle and has five grandchildren and they keep him busy. In addition to Sonny's many volunteer hours, he enjoys boating as much as possible. By being involved with the Ambassadors, he is able to enjoy getting out and meeting new people and talking about new businesses in Lisle. Since retirement, Sonny's favorite quote is "Every day is Saturday."
