Message from Our President

Hi Ladies,

We are excited to announce that our meeting in May will be in person at Benedict's Plantation. Our guest speaker on May 20th will be Dr. Grisoli, a dermatologist from Baldone & Reina. Dr. Grisoldi will be there to answer questions about your skincare. Please join us after the meeting for our lunch bunch at Cuccina Congemi following our meeting on May 20th.

We also have our three speakers lined up for the Smart Women’s Day Out. They are Larry Rolling, Jill McGuire, and Sherri Hansen. Our SWDO will be at Benedict’s Plantation from 12 pm to 3 pm with the program starting at 1 pm. Tickets for the event, lunch, and raffle items will go on sale soon.

Shane Mutter of Seed2System educated us on Hemp and the benefits of CBD. His company "produces and distributes high-quality, all-natural CBD products derived from hemp." Oh - and he gave us a discount code...
2021 Plans
As of now, these are the monthly topics we have scheduled:
  • May 20th - Dr. Grisoli, a local dermatologist will speak about our summer skin - in person at Benedict's Plantation
  • June 17th - Home/personal safety & scams - in person at Benedict's Plantation

Smart Women's Day Out will happen this year!

Later topics include:
  • Healthy eating/cooking
  • Increasing your creativity
  • Women’s Health

In addition. we plan to have a November meeting to Give Thanks to our Community Partners, and a Holiday Party in December. As the covid restrictions are relaxed, we will plan more Adventures and PEGs.

SAVE THE DATE! A family-friendly Oktoberfest fundraiser for Cholangiocarcinoma is scheduled for Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Covington Trailhead. In our first year, about 1,200 attended and we hope to get 2,000 this year. Looking for sponsors and people who love to be on the committee to help. Mary Bird Perkins is providing free, convenient access to a host of cancer screenings during the month of May. Discovering cancers in their earliest stage through screenings can help lead to better outcomes, making it extremely important for the community to get screened for appropriate cancers. The Hospice House is collecting gently used shoes, any size, any gender. They are doing a fundraiser through funds2orgs. They repurpose new and used shoes and send them to less fortunate countries where people resell to support their families.

Cleaning Supplies - Clorox Wipes, Clorox, Lysol and/or Microban, and Garbage bags to sanitize.

Blessings Box - monetary donations, food, and other non-perishables to keep the Blessings Box
stocked and available to those in need.

Technology - laptop, streaming camera, and a wireless conference room sound system to set up
for hybrid programs (virtual & in-person).
World of Wonder, WOW - It is time to start donating to support the WOW Summer Camp for kids ages 3-5 at the Mandeville - Lacombe Head Start. Your $175 donation helps give an educational camp to one toddler for the summer!
