A Message from our President/CEO:
Dear United Way Friends,

Here we are at the end of our fiscal year, and a very trying one at that. I have some incredibly wonderful news to share! With your help, we have reached our annual goal of raising $1.2M to impact the lives of over 42,000 local community members. To do that, we had 91 of our business partners run United Way workplace campaigns, 54 corporate donors, 396 residential donors, 5 foundation requests and grants, and one really great event called Over the Edge. It also takes hundreds of hours of volunteer support to make this happen, not to mention, we must give a HUGE shout-out to our engaged and energetic Campaign Co-Chairs, Bob Woodward, and Jan Powers

You may be wondering what is next. Well, I am excited to share with you that we are holding our 3rd Over the Edge Event on Friday, September 10th, 2021, at the historic Hotel Julien Dubuque building. We have room for 60 Edgers to sign up to Edge (or rappel) off the side of this iconic building in downtown Dubuque, helping us to raise $80,000 for our community! We have event sponsorships left and lots of great ideas for those interested in learning more about Edging. You can learn more here but please stay tuned for lots of information about this event that impacts so many. https://dbqunitedway.org/over-the-edge
On behalf of our Board of Directors, our staff, and the 42,000 lives you helped impact, thank you all for a great (fiscal) year of support!

Sincerely,
Danielle Peterson,
President/CEO

Development & Marketing Intern

Why Intern at United Way?
"Interning at the United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States was a great experience! They were flexible with my schedule and worked with me to ensure that my internship met the requirements set forth by my college for a Public Relations major. They allowed me the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects to build my portfolio and I was able to learn a lot about the world of nonprofit marketing! It was a great way to earn college credit while making an impact on my community!"- Jenna Meehan, Summer 2020 Development & Marketing Intern

Volunteer Opportunities
Advocate for Quality Long-Term Care

Volunteer Ombudsmen are trained, certified volunteers who visit one local long-term care facility to advocate for residents' rights. This includes visiting with residents about their quality of care and quality of life in the facility and seeking to resolve any of their concerns in cooperation with the facility. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity and requires a minimum commitment of three hours per month for one year.
Delaware County Volunteer Drivers

Provide rides to places like doctor and dentist appointments, the grocery store, the pharmacy...wherever people need to go within Delaware County. Build relationships and feel a sense of fulfillment while connecting people to valuable resources in your community!
To get started, complete the Volunteer Driver Application and return to Tricia Wagner, twagner@ecia.org
Mentor Youth

Mentor Dubuque is looking for adults to volunteer as a mentor to a youth living in the Dubuque area. This is a fun and fulfilling way to get involved in your community!
Mentoring means being a fun and positive influence in your mentee's life. We ask mentors to spend about 4-5 hours each month with their mentee. Staff are available to support the match. There is an also an option to mentor a child with your partner (couple matching).
Whether you make a one-time gift or set up recurring monthly payments, every donation matters.
We are stronger together!
